beijossss!

What girl doesn't love nice-smelling bath treats? I came up with this tutorial for a lavender-scented salt scrub to whisk away dead skin and leave you buffed and glowing. You can also pot it up and give it away as presents.

One cute little birdie, totally hand-stitched, and stuffed with filling I stole out of a pillow off our couch. I have another cut ready to be made. After that I'm thinking I'd like to make more of a chookmook looking bird, like my business logo.

If you want to make the favors and looking for something to do with recycled materials, you can consider the glass jars.

If cardboard and tape qualify as a Do-It-Yourself project, I'm all over it!

This time, I decided to go for a little more functionality on the sync case from earlier. I turned my old tripod into a light stand, meaning if I'm to use my strobe on it, I can't just let the receiver dangle from the top! I need something to hold it!

Do-It-Yourself-With-Nothing-But-Cardboard-And-Tape to the rescue!! Here's how I made this using (again) the CyberSync boxes. (I have to say, those boxes are rather sturdy. Someone should notify AlienBees and tell them to start selling them by themselves. They'll make millions!)

1. I cut off a square of cardboard and folded it into three sections. Then took a smaller rectangle and folded it in the middle of the sections. This was all after cutting holes through the center of the cardboard for the light stand to pass through. I put everything in line, used lots of tape.

2. I folded the sides up, and taped more cardboard to patch up the remaining two sides, making the thing actually look like a freaking box. Used lots of tape. I then fortified the insides with a little more cardboard slices and lots of tape.

Next, I laid a strip of cardboard (with a hole in the center for the light stand) over the top using lots of tape. I kept a flap open at the end for the receiver to sit.

3. This is the receiver sitting. Isn't she cute?

4. The sync holder is complete! It should fit snug around the light stand's shaft, and rest at the base of it (depending on your light stand) allowing enough leeway to extend the height of the stand while keeping the receiver in its bed.

Hope this tutorial actually helped and did not confuse the hell out of you. But if all else fails, just use more tape. Lots of tape.

Exifer tutorial part 1 of 7: Editing with Exifer.

Most digital cameras automatically add essentail EXIF information to the photo. When taking screenshots or camera phone pictures, though, there usually isn't much metadata. It isn't obvious how to add the data in Exifer, either. You need to right-click on the photo > EXIF/IPTC > Edit... Or you can click EXIF/IPTC > Edit... from the main menu; CTRL+E is the fastest. Exifer is handy for creating EXIF/IPTC templates, too; you can edit multiple photos at once pretty easily. (Don't ask me why some of the thumbnails don't show up in Exifer, either; one of its many minor bugs.) As I mentioned in the introduction, make sure your photo editing program doesn't erase your EXIF/IPTC data every time you use it.

Tip: You can right-click on images in Windows Explorer and Open With > Exifer.

Please make general comments on the main set page. Specific comments can be added to each picture, as well.
