Filet Crochet Tutorial
Filet is a French word for net. Filet crochet, worked from a graph (or chart), is possibly one of the easiest techniques for creating crochet lace – at its simplest it’s made up with 3 basic stitches, slip stitch, chains & trebles (US dc), but more intricate patterns can be created substituting the trebles (US dc) with double trebles (US tr), triple trebles (US dtr) & so on
This tutorial (17 pages) takes you through the basics of Filet Crochet in both written (UK & US terminology) & diagram form & covers the following:

This is some sort of tutorial on how I do my brick wall backgrounds. Though scrapbooking papers can give you a very realistic and easy brick background, sometimes I love to make a "real" wall with texture and color.
The wall is made out of styrofoam, the window is made of foamboard.
Take your time and add the paint in layers. You might need to wait until one layers has completely dryed, but the layering will give each brick's color a more natural depth.
The paint job for the grout doesn't have to be perfect, some bricks will look more natural with the grey underneath.
This is what happens when the extruder puts down less plastic than skeinforge expects.

Freshly Picked has a great tutorial on making a coin purse.
However, I didn't have oilcloth on hand, so I made mine with quilting cotton, batting and a lining. These are my modifications to her tutorial. Please still refer to her instructions for basic construction technique as my pictures only show how I deviated from her tutorial.
{Tutorial will be posted 1/8/11}

I was on lunch break from shooting an event at Harvard Law School (previous) and caught this guy walking by the window on Oxford St. in Cambridge. I didn't notice the word Lifer on the pole until viewing the photo afterwards and I can't imagine nailing it better in the frame. What luck.
Inspired by NymphoBrainaic's views of Portland characters and Korrileigh04's quick tutorial on using layers. Thanks! Wish I could remember how to link to their profiles.....
