Steampunk knickers tutorial for Threadbanger.

6. Before attaching the band, lay it flat so it's folded in half. Put a pin in the end opposite the seam, directly across from it. We're going to line the seam up with the inside pant leg seam, and the pin with the outside pant leg seam.

This is important in order to get your gathers/folds to look right!

Once you've done this, turn the band inside out and pull it over the pant leg so that the edges you'll be sewing together are touching right sides together.

You will have a bunch of folds of fabric inside your band- this is good, this is because the band is smaller than the pants.

7. Line up the seams and pin in place. Now we will make our first gather/fold. I do mine by making this S-curve fold with the inside (pant leg) fabric. If all goes well, you will do four of these S-folds (one on each side of each seam) and not need to do any more gathering to get your fabric to fit. If not, you can always do one or two more folds. I actually ended up doing five for this pair of knickers.

Once you have it folded, take out the pin you already put in and use it to hold the fold in place.

Filet Crochet Tutorial

Filet is a French word for net. Filet crochet, worked from a graph (or chart), is possibly one of the easiest techniques for creating crochet lace – at its simplest it’s made up with 3 basic stitches, slip stitch, chains & trebles (US dc), but more intricate patterns can be created substituting the trebles (US dc) with double trebles (US tr), triple trebles (US dtr) & so on

This tutorial (17 pages) takes you through the basics of Filet Crochet in both written (UK & US terminology) & diagram form & covers the following:

This is some sort of tutorial on how I do my brick wall backgrounds. Though scrapbooking papers can give you a very realistic and easy brick background, sometimes I love to make a "real" wall with texture and color.

The wall is made out of styrofoam, the window is made of foamboard.

Take your time and add the paint in layers. You might need to wait until one layers has completely dryed, but the layering will give each brick's color a more natural depth.

The paint job for the grout doesn't have to be perfect, some bricks will look more natural with the grey underneath.
