My pet turtle checking out the camera. She actually loves it when I take her picture. She'll splash around a bit and after a few shots, she stops. Consided little thing ;)

I went to the park today... it´s only steps away from my home, and i like to go there on the weekends. it´s nice there... they have all kind of animals and lots of flowers, a tropical greenhouse, lots of birds, a chinese teahouse... one can spend the whole day there. i went quite early, so it was not terribly busy. anyway, when i saw this turtle (they´re just swimming in the water, or in this case, sunbathing) i thought its expression just captured wonderfully my mood during the last week.
I found this turtle literally in the middle of the road. A dirt road where a small bump of a reptile is not readily obvious. (S)he is most fortunate I'm an observant fellow. We do not have wild turtles in Washington, native or imported.
Shot a few pics with my lightbox both to document the oddity of it all, and to hopefully help identify my hardshell friend's species. Do you recognize it? Please let me know!
Mr. Speedy was in the hiway biding his own time.... so I had to relocate him to keep him from getting flattten..
