This guy was not scared of us at all. He stood his ground even after I jumped back away from him after realizing he was staring me down.

Wasserschildkröte im Allwetterzoo Münster

Thanks, Larry Meade for the identification -- I've looked it up -- seems right.... but I'm no expert with turtles, (knowing what a Box Turtle is about the most I know!), so I'll call it a "Painted Turtle", but if anyone else has other identification ideas -- they are welcome.

This turtle was stranded at low tide. We poured some water on its shell and body to stop it from drying out, but it was way too heavy for us to move.

According to others who came after us, the turtle's front-right flipper (not shown) was injured. Poor thing.

A turtle we came across while riding...after the photo op, we made sure that he made it to the side of the road that he was heading to.

I found this turtle stranded in the middle of a hot Alabama road. This picture was taken at his release.

Baby Snapping Turtle

I didn't have anything to show the scale, but this turtle must be at least three feet long. It looks like a freaking dinosaur.

He kind'd snapped at me....but of course I was moving him for more photos.

A head shot close up of a nice little turtle.

Just a bit of a shame the colour is as washed out.

This painted turtle was rescued crossing the road from one pond to another. He was kept in a nice outdoor cage until one day he mysteriously escaped.

Pixturtle in life

逃げる気なんかさらさらない、って感じでじーっとこっちを見てました。ハイ、侵入者はこっちです。。。

This guy decided to walk up the driveway today! Big turtle..about a foot across and 1 1/2 feet long with his tail included. Almost positive it's a common snapping turtle (quite common here in Wisconsin)
