Or what's left of it. It was in a circle of stones that were a campfire place. Probably for the hunters of deer and antelope that come here in the winter. I didn't really like seeing this as I am the founder and executive officer of PETF; people for the ethical treatment of fossils! I do feel like a lone voice though. Maybe because I just made this all up and I'm the only member of this group of whinners and complainers.

Back in Midland we had turtles in the back yard. They would even come up and scratch at the door sometimes, in hopes of obtaining a nice juicy strawberry!

Found this snapping turtle walking towards the water of Falls Lake. This is not a cropped photo! Shows how close I was able to get to this turtle. I decided to touch its shell, and it turned around and lurched at me with its mouth open. Not doing that again!
