Historic turning stones in Geraldine used to guide horse drawn wagons along narrow lanes in the mid to late 1800s.

The horses turned into the lane and then the attached wagon would be brought into alignment by the off-side wheel hub catching on the stone and pivoting it into a straight line.

Most of the stones were removed as motorized vehicles took over from horses.

Ann turns around and shows her back. Her colorful fingernails are on the wall, her head and shoulders are covered by her long black hair and her sweet bum is highlighted by her bright yellow shiny shorts. She's such a tease sometimes and I don't mind at all; I'm loving it!

All along the Chinese silk road we would find dried chillis in our food, in our soups. And here, somewhere near Korla, in Gansu province, we saw one source. A field, filled with previously harvested chillis, turned regularly so that both sides would catch the sun and the peppers dry evenly, home of men and women with large pitchforks. That much bright red, a challenge to paint...

thanks for looking

This pocket-sized Flemish Book of Hours was likely created in Bruges ca. 1500. It contains illuminations produced by the Ghent-Bruges school stylistically associated with the Master of the Prayerbooks, who was active at that time. The manuscript still retains the original binding signed by Ludovicus Bloc, a binder documented in Bruges ca. 1484-1529. The miniatures can be compared with those in W.176 in the Walters' collection, as well as with those in a manuscript also bound by Ludovicus Bloc in the Detroit Institute of Arts (Acc. no. 63.146). The overall image cycle is closely related to that of W.427, another Flemish Book of Hours preserved at the Walters Art Museum.

This is the Turning Torso built by Santiago Calatrava, one of my favorite architects. Google him to see some very interesting architecture! This is in Malmo, Sweden, just across a very long bridge from Copenhagen. Unfortunately, it is a private apartment building and the public can't go in. It is the tallest building in Sweden and the tallest apartment building in Europe.

Some more pictures of the Turning Torso. Generally the infinity cove is a no-brainer but the white on white wasn't ideal, so here's some messy workshop shots. Also a couple of segments for an idea of the structure.
