A non-HDR night shot of the junction of New Bridge Road & Upper Cross Road in Chinatown Singapore. As Chinatown was preparing for the CNY decoration along NBR, William Cho & I were busy shooting from the 7th floor carpark of People's Park Centre at Eu Tong Sen St . Very soon this road will be pack jam with locals shopping for the Tiger year.

Habergham Colliery was sunk by The Exors of John Hargreaves in 1868-70 and distributed its coal by cart until around 1900 when a chain ginney line was built to connect at Cornfield Colliery with the ginney to Padiham. This line incorporated a tunnel under Tipping Hill Plantation and a turning point at about half way. The colliery operated until 1941 when a shortage of labour cause Hargreaves Collieries to close the pit and transfer the men to their other workings.
Turning the direction of tubs on a chain hauled line was quite a complicated business involving the detaching of the tubs from the haulage chain before the change of direction and their reattachment afterwards. The operation was supposed to be automatic but there are many tales of problems which often necessitated a man being placed at the turn to supervise the operation. This image shows the remains of the turning pillars above Cornfield Farm. The substantial construction reflects the heavy loads and hard use to which it was put.

It's almost my birthday. I turn 20 on May 29, 2012.
I've been alive two decades. Wow.
Thank you all for your support. I began my journey on this website when I was just seventeen years old. I am so lucky to have all of you. I wouldn't be where am I today if it weren't for your support and kind words.
What I've accomplished in the past twenty years.
Survived being born six weeks early at 4 lbs. 10 ounces.
Spent 2 weeks in the NICU.
Got my appendix taken out at age four.
Went to Disney world the same year.
Accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at age 9.
Collected over $20 in quarters just because I like them.
Traveled to my favorite city, NYC, at age 13.
Broke 1 bone, my nose, at age 15 and had surgery.
Stalked the crew of Extreme Makeover Home Edition and got pictures with the designers.
Got 6th in the state for the 2 mile in indoor track.
Kissed 3 of my grandparents, my great grandma, cousin , and uncle goodbye.
Made a documentary.
Wrote four novels.
Got my license.
Attended a Sarah Palin rally.
Saved baby birds.
Was a lawyer in Mock Trial.
Won the race for Senior Class President.
Was voted "Class Comedienne" for senior superlatives.
Graduated high school.
Got accepted to four colleges and found the perfect one.
Received a full tuition scholarship to college.
Started doing client work through Compositions by Caitlyn.
Won $20 on a scratch off.
Saw Taylor Swift in concert.
Developed an obsession with Katy Perry and saw her in concert.
Got involved on campus.
Went on a mission trip to Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.
Had a photo publishedt in a magazine.
Moved into an apartment with my sister.
Won the Provost's Award in my university's Juried Student Exhibition with this photo.
Was on the front page of my school's website.
Moved over ten times.
Beat depression.
Smiled. A lot.
That list is for me, but I wanted to share it with you.
Goals for the next twenty years:
Fall in love.
Get married in Las Vegas with all of my friends and family.
Graduate college.
Have kids.
Get a job that I love.
Stay close to my family.
Own a house.
And a car.
Give back.

The first shuttle of the day 8S02 was running slightly late, so this saw the train reverse at the Albury end of the passing lane that reaches Gerogery. (Location: Gerogery South) 3265 is seen with a full head of steam, as the safety valves lift as the diesels prepare to haul the train back to Albury as 8S03. 15/03/2014.
