After visiting the depot in Ruth, NV to exchange passenger, the Nevada Northern Railway's "Steptoe Flyer" passenger train is now backing to the wye, roughly a mile east of town, to turn for the return trip to the railroad's base of operations in Ely.

During the heyday of the Nevada Northern Railway, the tracks actually entered the little mining town of Ruth, but in the years since it closed down as a common carrier, expansion of mining operations has resulted in the trackage west of this location being largely removed. This image was captured from the White Pine County Road 44A bridge during a February 2012 winter photo shoot at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum in Ely, NV.

Bald eagle hunting in the early morning light.

Striking black-and-white head and bib, black-and-chestnut back, and orange legs mark this trout bird in breeding plumage. Female is duller than male. Bib pattern and orange leg color are retained in winter plumage. Juvenile resembles winter adult but back has a scaly appearance. Distinctive call, a low-pitched, guttural rattle. Nests on coastal tundra. Turnstones use their slender and chisel-like bills to flip aside shells and pebbles in search of food. In flight pattern on back and wings identifies both turnstone species.

This one was turning stones looking for food on a receding tide.

Thanks to all of you who take time to comment and/or fave the photograph.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. His cigarette held firmly in his mouth to allow both hands to work his mobile. I simply loved the light falling on this corner in the city. Enjoy!

With a new PC and new install of LR I have somehow lost all EXIF data for the recent shoot. Trying to get all of the settings to those of my previous installation has been quite a hassle. Shot on my Canon EOS 5D Mark III with the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens.

In late September I visited the Krucjeberg Botanic Garden to see what it had to offer. There were some great photo spots, and it was a worthwhile trip. To see many more pictures of the garden read my blog post The Calming Oasis of Seattle's Community Gardens in my blog Batteredsuitcase.net

Yes, it is Avery's birthday today! So happy to spend the day with her doing all of her favorite things...toysrus, lunch at Logan's (she loves the peanuts), icee's at Target...Chuck-E-Cheese for dinner tonight. Gonna keep this short so I dont get teary-eyed. A Candyland theme party is planned for this Saturday....more fun to come!

Pretty crazy how fast life is moving. Today is a mix of emotions, but above all I am happy where I am right now :)
