I walked over to check out what Elizabeth was drawing in the garage, and I found, amongst the elephants and dinosaurs, a LM386-based sound trigger! She left off the electrolytic cap on the output, though... I'll have to smack her around some later until she gets it right.
"Trig" belongs to my son and his wife. We have become fast friends! How else could I have gotten this great portrait?? This look is what captured the hearts of John and Laurie when they visited the ASPCA a few months ago looking for a second dog. They chose well. Trig is well-behaved generally and has a good disposition. And he's just gorgeous! .
UPDATE: We're fairly confident that Trigger is a Black Lab/German Short-Haired Pointer hybrid.

First sighting of the summer in Manly Dam of this fascinating plant. The pollen is on a lever which springs over any insect which lands on the flower.
It always amazes me how the simplest of wounds can derail so many activities. I'm having a hard time taking photos because I can't bend my finger at the last joint..playing guitar, writing letters, flipping through records...

Strobist: SB600 and Yin Yan (China Flash) to subject's left and right about a meter off the ground on tripods. Triggered by iShoot radio triggers.
I also used a polirizing filter to help with the sky color... It was mounted on my Tamron 18-270 VR lens (great for travel for obvious reasons but not sure how it performs compared to the kit lens for the D90)
*this was my favorite shot out of the whole set. I really liked the timing, sort of wish i had gotten the entire rope in the frame though.
A couple of weeks ago I went to meet my girlfriend in Paulista Av. (São Paulo, Brazil) to take some pictures of a friend of her's. After a couple of hours they left and I stayed behind to talk to this group of guys. They're part of a rope-skipping crew and were practicing that day. I thought it would be a good chance to practice since that was pretty much my first time taking pictures of people other than my friends and family.
I'd love to hear some critique on the work. I know I definetly need to work on my post processing. I've just recently started using Aperture 3 and plan on taking Lynda.com's Photoshop courses. I am looking forward to learn a lot about composition and lighting, hope you guys can help with that.

I had a lot of fun creating this images. the goal was to create a crown in different colors and with a reflection.

Trigger was once a Republic Commando, bred to serve in an elite squad with his brothers. But during the battle of Geonosis, his job was short lived.
He and his squad had been tasked with the job of destroying one of the droid's underground factories.
They never got the chance.
Before they reached the LZ their gunship was shot down enroute to their would-be destination. All the clones died in the crash save Trigger, who was later captured by the droids, as he tried to get back to Republic lines.
After weeks of interrogating by the droids, they finally gave up on him, and sold him to some Trandoshian merchants, promising a high reward for any information they might squeeze out of him.
Onboard one of the slaver ships, unspeakable crimes were done to him. He was beaten every day by bloodthirsty trandoshian's hoping to receive the rewards the droids had spoken of.
Trigger's sense of duty, he later recounted, was the only thing that kept him alive.
Then, one day Trigger finally got his chance. The Trandoshian's had left him alone in the cell with a few other wookiees. He couldn't speak much of their, language, but they seemed to be of the same mind in their plans for a escape.
Working together, they killed all the slavers and took the ship for their own, and flew to Kashyyk where they left Trigger with a curious detachment of clones, called the 457th corps...
All it needs is an other handle and brush head - it'll be as good as new!
From the episode "Heroes and Villains" of the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses, where the character Trigger receives an award for saving the council money by using the same broom for twenty years, despite it receiving seventeen new heads and fourteen new handles.
Trigger: And that's what I've done. Maintained it for 20 years. This old broom's had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time.
Sid: How the hell can it be the same bloody broom then?
