lightning storm headed straight towards our house... and my attic window ;-) (15-08-2012)
lightning shot from my attic window with my home made lightning trigger
... as dark clouds slowly drifted in, the sky became darker and darker. at first it just looked like a heavy raincloud, but as the front came closer you suddenly could see the lightning flashes behind this first cloud.
flashes every 5 seconds, most of them inside the higher clouds, suddenly a gust of wind and the rain started, more and more lightning flashes became visible and reached out of the clouds.

Megan opened up a copy of our cookbook last night and put together a veritable Korean feast for us. It was a nice little slice of nostalgia, a trip down memory lane. Looking through the cookbook I was reminded of how much work we put into it; over six weeks I shot something in the neighborhood of 6,000 images while Megan cooked more than 100 dishes. These images didn't make the final cut and haven't seen the light of day... until now.
You can order a copy of our Korean cookbook, The Ubiquitous Kimchi, from Blurb books. Learn how to gorge yourself on blood sausage, Korean rice wine and soju cocktails. You won't regret it. This is the link.

Fritzing breadboard view of flash trigger hackery. Substantially upgraded from last round, the Arduino now powers the laser and sensor, opens the shutter, and fires the flash about 165 milliseconds after the beam is diminished by 0.5% relative the previous ten readings.
