Lighting info: Vivitar 285HV with large umbrella above and behind me.

I decided to get into this strobist thing, and buy some cheap triggers, some call them e-bay triggers, but I got mine from a different website. I had purchased a set of 16 channel impact triggers for studio lights. They don’t work for the off camera hotshoe flashes, as the receivers have to be plugged into an outlet, but the transmitter looked like the 16 channel transmitters of the E-bay type. So I decided to get those so they would all work together. I also heard that Vivitar started selling the 285 flashes again, but made then with a different voltage so they would not fry new DSLRs. They call them the 285HV. Great got a couple of those. I should be all set.
Problems:
1. Come to find out the 16 channel E-bay triggers don’t trigger the 285hv’s when the batteries get low, and shooting on a low power setting on the flash.
2. The range of these little guys are about 10 feet, or so. Well that stinks!
Fixes:
1. I found out the 4 channel V2s triggers, a slight variation on the 16 channel; in that they have hotshoe connections, work on the 285hv’s because the manufacture took out a bridge rectifier in the circuit. I found the hack on the strobist group on flickr, and instead of bypassing my bridge rectifier; I just took it out and put in the two wires. Cool, the 285hv fires 99% of the time. Good enough!
2. Since I’m on a roll, I should do the antenna hack on the transmitter. I loved it so much; I did it on the studio transmitter as well. They are basically the same transmitter, with the exception it has an extra pc connector so you can hook it to a light meter and trigger your strobes. I hooked it up to the larger hole on the circuit board to the right in the picture, instead of the left one, because of my wire size. I cut the “tracing” on the circuit board to keep from having a Y type of antenna.

I became involved with this project hoping to uncover a fresh perspective on the gun debate. My process included extensive research, one-on-one interviews (online and offline), a panel discussion and a visit to the local gun range to experience guns firsthand. See more at: www.victor-ramos.com

Strobist: Twin 1/2 cto gelled canon 430ex II's, left and right, triggered by PW minitt1/flextt5 combo. The idea was to create a completely sharp freeze frame of her in the center of the flame at the end of the exposure.
Unfortunately, the speed lights were too far away and the parking lot lights too strong to realize that goal fully.
This stuff has all been in storage for nearly three years. I haven't really been able to make any noise, but right now I can get a little loud for a few days so I couldn't resist. So nice to hear it all come to life again.
The Ibanez UE-405 has long been a favorite of mine.
The way I understand it, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it those circuits are all pedal effects circuits from the same 9-series line of effects that the Tube Screamer TS-9 came from (except for the parametric EQ circuit, which is unique to this box AFAIK). The big difference here is that they're all AC-powered and in a rack unit. So yeah, AFAIK that's the AD-9 analog delay, the CS-9 stereo chorus and the CP-9 compressor/limiter. The "Insta-Patch Position" knobs let you arrange what order they're in.
What I do know with some degree of certainty is that they've always sounded great.
Decided to buy 3 of these Phottix triggers. I got 3 triggers for the price of one Pocket Wizard trigger!

Our 6 month old blue heeler puppy, Trigger, has to always be in the water. My boyfriends mom's most prize possession is her goldfish pond... She gets so mad when Trigger takes a dip in it to cool off. She is so worried he is going to hurt her goldfish. We have tried EVERYTHING to keep him out.. and he knows he isn't supposed to be in there. So this is our criminal pup swimming with the goldfish with his " i didn't do it " look!
Damaged Case and/or device: No goldfish have been damaged.. yet! but we will never get tired of the endless amounts of " I didn't do it looks" or chasing trigger out of the goldfish pond!
I sent a second picture of Trigger picking up some bad habbits of his owner ( Drew Black). once again here is his "I didn't do it mom!" look :) hope everyone enjoys our CRIMINAL PUPPY!!
I love this game. replayed it on my DS and that was a whole lotta fun :) Found this folded up inside the original game box; slightly tattered but that's the patina.

I suffered a serious shoulder injury while snowboarding six weeks ago. But La Nina has been dumping powder over The Cascades all week long and I can no longer resist the temptation. I'll be heading back to the mountain this weekend.

Interior Close-up of the 580EX II foot. The factory PC jack has been replaced with a common 3.5mm mono audio jack.
Temporary jumper wires verify continuity:
White - trigger wire from center pin to jack
Black - ground wire from foot frame to ground on jack
Capacitor - .02microfarad/50V bridged from ground to trigger (allows firing in manual-master mode!)
EDIT 2007_11_16 - It's actually not necessary to carve a notch for the 3.5mm plug after all. I tested this on my second 580EX II and the plug goes in all the way just fine without making a notch.

These trigger plants are currently un-named. They are usually found growing around granite outcrops in the northern jarrah forest south east of Perth. The flowers are usually pink to white with attractive red markings around the throat. Trigger plants all have an elaborate sensitive trigger mechanism that dabs pollen on the insects that visit for a sip of nectar.

So there I was, sitting down to rest my leg, with my camera on the tripod. I look over and see the sun behind this couple. I told myself it would never work. But I decided to give it a try anyway. I don’t even remember how I came up with an exposure for it. The camera might have been on auto. Sometimes, you just pull the trigger.
