There is no point in attempting a dialogue about this flyer. If the person who posted it was reasonable, then it wouldn't have been posted.
"Reasonable" means susceptible to reason. This is not. It is the act of a closed and distorted, ill-informed and unreasonable mind.
Look at all the triggers! See the emotive, motherhood-style, unqualified declarations. They are no better than politicians slogans. Who are the "they" coming for our children? Shadowy bogeymen! Gotta have some of them!! They are straight out of the Department of Home Affairs copybook. Oh, hang on, it's too late. With all the Government big data cross-matching of health, tax, welfare, email, phone number (must be mobile, can't track landline) etcetera they are hooked forever, already.
Look at those big blue eyes, full lips, vulnerable little girl looks. What are they selling anyway? We have names for that, and laws too.
When there was a visible risk of dying or being disabled at a young age by, you know, smallpox, tuberculosis, diphtheria, polio, rubella, measles and their kind, the hope of vaccination was welcomed. Success has drawn a of veil of ignorance over the awareness of imbeciles.
Without disease, hunger, malnutrition and disability made visible the way has been paved for the emergence of antivaxxers, vegetarians, vegans; all colours of distorted fringe dwellers. This is just a manifestation of that fringe.
The Macquarie Dictionary word of the year is strollout. It refers to the slow rate at which the Australian Government acquired and deployed vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the majority has spoken. Almost 93 per cent of all eligible Australians have chosen to be vaccinated against COVID-19. That's a landslide. The recent rise of the delta and omicron variants of the virus should be reason enough, knowing the propensity for genetic variation in viruses as a function of how many are able to reproduce, for everyone to make their best effort to keep everyone else safe. Whether it's isolation, barrier methods like masks, shields and gloves, biological like vaccination or chemical by washing and sanitising, every little bits helps reduce the population of reproducing and thus potentially mutating viruses.
They aren't coming for our children! I almost feel sorry for them. I am sorry I gave them air. Maybe exposing the absurdity of this flyer will make up for that?
The objective of the trigger finger treatment is to dispose of the swelling and bolting and permitting it full and agony free development of the trigger finger. Its regular treatment incorporates night splints, anti - fiery medivations and steroid infusions.
Vanity did not realise that if one became too narcissistic and vain, that she would encounter her evil doppelgänger through the mirror portal, which would bring misfortune to her “perfect” life. A long taloned hand drew through the mirror vortex and clawed at Vanity’s long ebony hair in a motion like that of a preying vulture.
www.bostonmagazine.com/corporate/subscription_services/ (click Send a Gift Subscription) When I submitted this form, I got 'Please enter a valid format for Send Date.' After 8 tries, I never cracked it. Customer service had no idea and suggested I subscribe by phone. At that point, my cost in time outweighed the benefit (sorry gift recipient!), so I gave up. Is there a TimeOut Boston?
With apologies to Carole C if she didn't call it that - Dennis said she did, but one thing not in dispute is that surprisingly it was Carole's first trig pillar.
We had a stunning day and views for the recce - the day of the walk was greyer, damper and windier.
A glass plate being pierced by a 13 gram steel projectile. The glass was colored on both sides with the extracted guts of a Bic permanent marker (red).
Pretty much the same stuff as "A Shattering in Magenta." This time, however, the glass plate is larger and --having learned from my previous mistake-- angled more toward the lens to make the subject depth shallower; I also made adjustments to the point at which I focused. In the end, all of these corrections helped alleviate the depth of field problem.
Of course, I didn't stop to consider that by turning the glass plate toward the lens, I had effectively increased the distance the projectile needed to travel in order to clear the glass. So, not knowing this, I didn't increase the trigger delay to compensate for the increased distance, which is why the projectile ended up where it did in the image.
It's always something.
I hit the "color restoration" button on my scanner to capture the purplish undertones in the background. (The original is more of a mint green rather than pine. I thought the darker hues accompanied the content of the entry much better.)
I loved how it had the dots and hairs to blend in with the trigger plant buds.

Once I took the trigger spring out, cleaned it thoroughly and put it all back together I found that I was right about the trigger not catching was cause by grime and not some mechanical defect. The trigger catches every time now with perhaps a 10 pound pull.

Stockton Town let fly during the Wearside Football League's 2016 Monkwearmouth Charity Cup Final. Ben Priestley's 51st-minute header at Bishopton Road West was enough to beat west Cumbrian visitors Cleator Moor Celtic. Stockton, who had a late penalty saved by the Celtic keeper, defeated the same opposition in the 2015 final, which was staged at Cleator Moor. They are poised to win the Wearside League championship for a fourth consecutive season. With a new ground - also at Stockton Sixth Form College - under construction, Town expect to secure long overdue promotion to the Northern League for the 2016-17 campaign.

These amazing plants line my regular trail run. They have a trigger that goes off when the insects land depositing the pollen onto the insect. Amazing how all this comes together. Clever design!

“Act the way you want to feel” – Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project
My life hasn’t been an easy one but it also hasn’t been as hard as many in this World. Like every one in 10 Canadians I suffer from anxiety. Commonly, as it seems, I was diagnosed later in my life with this disorder; a month shy of my 30th birthday.
Quitting my cushy Government job, moving back to the UK and returning within a matter on months as well going back to school triggered a lot of old emotions as well feelings I had never experienced before. I was advised by a Doctor that a treatment of a drug called Cipralex would be helpful in slowing down panic attacks, extreme stress and depression and it worked, to an extent.
The good out ways the bad when taking a prescription drug; however there are limits to every medical cure. Though 15mg of a Cipralex can relax and take the edge off the battle, the war will still remains inside myself. This idea of battling through daily anxiety became the main inspiration for my piece. I decided to focus on the struggle I have been feeling these last few months while working as well the emotional low moments.
I chose a monochromic grey scale to truly illustrate the frustration, angry, pain and sadness I have been feeling during this period. There were times when there seemed no hope, no light and only the darkness in my mind. I felt flooded by blackness and hopelessness, too concerned with appeasing people to eager to critique rather than trying to find my own voice and my own style. I felt devoid of colour and happiness. It is easy to fake a laugh or a smile, but I am conveying how I couldn’t fake it any longer. This piece is muddy and dark, describing exactly how I was feeling. The main focus, the center image of myself shows a hint of this depression, while the two surrounding other characters are the voices within wailing and crying out in pain.
I created a 3-dimensional form in this flat medium by using very strong, black shadows around my body and face. This use of form is to illustrate me retreating into the shadows of my mind, caving into darkness and depression while small details of my face still are visible, to illustrate my expression and mood. I used low--‐key lighting and a Rembrandt on my face to capture my angular and particular bonestructure but also to extenuate the deep sockets of my eyes and the lines in every inch of the clothing I am wearing. This is important to me as I believe detail in facial structures really represents haggardness, fatigue and age as well it creates a harder look on a figure, which works extremely well when conveying pain, anger and sadness.
The asymmetrical balance in this work was also very important in the execution. Not only did I want to have an interesting visual, I also wanted to use this technique to illustrate the different sides of depression. This is aided by the black framing around the edges of the piece as it frames the three characters and engulfs them in the mood. The asymmetrical balance is also important because it keeps the focus on the main character; the two outside frame the central me. The three figures are also off center in the photograph in order to maintain this balance and create greater interest. I didn’t want them to be plunked smack in the middle but rather have the viewer follow them through the darkness and find them towards one corner of the piece. This creates more interest in the work as the viewer’s eyes are lead the central character and then their gaze can then follow the story towards the right corner and back to the left.
This piece is very interpretive as it is quite personal. If the viewer doesn’t know me or even if they are not familiar with my history with mental illness they may not quite understand the very personal nature of the piece, however they will see it obviously about pain and frustration because of how I portrayed the characters. I felt it important to keep this interpretive rather than descriptive as these moments of sadness and anguish can be very fleeting and I did not want to capture a documentary style shot, but rather stage the story. I feel this to be important as the design elements, previously discussed, really emphasized the emotions I captured.
This was probably the most therapeutic piece of art I have ever made because not only did it encapsulate very deep rooted emotions, it also revealed a vulnerable side of myself I rarely share with the World. This mood can be interpreted by many people in many different ways and for me that’s also important because I want to show the self--struggle I have with myself and depending on someone’s own personal experience, how this affects them as well.
I am quite glad to be able to push through these dark feelings and create something meaningful. I pride myself on working hard and being the best I can be but sometimes this can be a hindrance. I am not perfect as I am in fact flawed and fallible. I act brighter, lighter and more confident because it is the person I strive to be in my personal and professional life. I want people to know that there is no crime in being depressed or anxious and rather it is good if you can recognize these things and express them rather than fester and rot on the inside.
