Saturday night saw me down the road at Nerang Bowls Club to see The Dynamics featuring Izzy (Isobel Hall) and Wazza (Warren Thomas). This was the second time this year I have seen them and most certainly was not disappointed.
Thoroughly enjoyable night of music, great vocals, fine guitarmanship (is there such a word? well there is now!). Covering Aus Rock, Classic Rock, Country and Modern Rock, was really fun, bopping along to tunes I had grown up with and even singing along - sorry for mucking up some of the lyrics.
BUT, the extra special bonus last night was when Jonathan Everett-Jones took to the stage and joined in on some tunes with his legendary harp playing - the same Jonathan Everett-Jones who in years gone by played with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Joe Cocker, Alexis Korner and Supertramp amongst others.

Terrific evening listening to hits made famous by the legendary Stevie Nicks being performed by Lisa West and her band. Cabarita Beach Sports Club might be a small club but Lisa and the guys had the audience up and out of their seats dancing and singing along so some of the greatest tunes of our time. Look forward to catching this show again soon.

Here are a bunch of pics my wife Evelyn took Saturday night at Greg Andrew's "The Elton John Experience" show.
It's great having Evelyn shooting in the larger auditoriums, she is able to shoot from the back of the hall and get angles I am unable to cover when I am up front and close to the stage so this way we can cover most aspects on the night.

An outstanding show Saturday night with RIA performing A Tribute to the Music of Celine Dion - a must see show structured on the same song selection as Celine Dion’s Las Vegas show, which has left audiences breathless after every performance and has made Celine the highest paid artist in Las Vegas.

Now this show took me back to my surfing days at Bondi Beach and the music I grew up with. Great show put on by The Beach Boyz at South Tweed Sports Club. The first strum on the guitar had hardly been struck and the dance floor in front of the stage was full - and they were doing the twist, mashed potato, the swim, the monkey, the watusi to name just some of the old dance moves on display.
Great night, highly recommend, will certainly catch these guys again in the not too distant future

Rebecca O'Connor as Tina Turner is SIMPLY THE BEST. There are not enough superlatives to describe this show. If Tina Turner had a twin sister her name would be Rebecca O'Connor.
This was a show that had everything - great music, lots of energy, full-on audience participation - BUT, if you didn't know better you would have thought you were watching Tina Turner on stage.
Endorsed by both Tina Turner and Mick Fleetwood, you very quickly understand why this is so the moment Rebecca takes the stage.

Great night with Brody Finlay bringing to the stage Elvis Presley's early music from his start at Sun Records until he joins the Army in 1958. Brody had the audience eating out of his hands from the first strum on the guitar - a terrific two hour musical journey in a great night of memories and music which also featured the sounds of the Blue Moon Boys and the Jordanaires who backed Elvis in those early days.

Options Tavern at Helensvale was the venue of last night's Masters of Rock Show featuring the music of Michael Hutchence, Jimmy Barnes and Bon Scott in their Australia's Favourite Sons show. It had to be seen to believed. If you closed your eyes and drifted into the clouds, the sounds you were listening to you would have sworn were those of INXS, Cold Chisel and ACDC playing LIVE right there in front of you.

What a special night was that at RSL Club Southport last Saturday night where a FULL HOUSE of over 700 enjoyed The Ultimate Experience listening to the music of David Bowie, Elton John and Freddie Mercury as expertly presented by Wayne Vitale, Greg Andrew and John Blunt. It might only be the first month of the year but I have little doubt that show will prove to be THE SHOW of 2019. Was an honour and privilege being able to take photos last night.
In this album I have posted photos of Greg Andrew from the Elton John part of the show, I trust you will enjoy them

Was great catching up with Nick Waters in a solo show on Sunday afternoon at Advancetown Hotel. Great session of songs I grew up with from the late 60's and 70's.

Photos from the Blues Brothers 21Cats and Soul Sisters show at Eddie's Bandroom in Moorabbin. This was our first show for 2022, and what a way to kick off the new year with a very powerful and well orchestrated group of musicians recreating the music made famous by Jake and Elwood.
Went down to my local club, Nerang RSL, to catch some music from Nick Waters -was a fun night and great to catch up with Nick once again.
So good that our local club is now putting on regular live music for members of the club and those who live in the area.
Lighting is a bit of a challenge but was happy with these results.

What an incredible afternoon of live music at Nerang RSL with the incomparable Mental As Anything rocking the house of over 500+ punters. First saw this group back in 1976 in Sydney when I was completing my BA Dip Ed - and boy, did I get an education from these guys back then! And today, 43 years later, I was up there with the best of them moving to hypnotic sounds of Greedy Smith and his great band.
Opening for the Mentals was Gold Coast local Nick Waters who most certainly got the huge crowd into the mood for when Mental As Anything took to the stage.
"A popular urban myth concerns a group of art students who passed themselves off as a band in order to con the local publican into giving them a gig in exchange for free beer. The deception worked better than intended, and the group came to be known as Mental as Anything. Nearly two decades later, they are still irritating the public with their highly listenable, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop. A self-explanatory single to reflect their success, The Nips Are Getting Bigger, rose through the charts as did their fundamental understanding of the old adage that 'for every action there is a reaction'. Ahead lay a very lengthy pub crawl which only the accomplished could survive."
A big shout out to Nerang RSL for a truly memorable afternoon of live music on the Gold Coast.

Went down to South Tweed Sports club to see Wayne Vitale in his new "The David Bowie Show". Supported by the musicians from The Killer Queen band, Wayne was smoking hot with his performance, and he had the audience dancing along in front of the stage - would be fair to say the crowd took the hint when Wayne played the song "Let's Dance".
This was a terrific show and Wayne did a superb job as Bowie.

Without a doubt one of the best shows we have seen over the years here on the Gold Coast. The Animals (Animals and Friends) did not disappoint, in fact they blew away the 500+ audience last night playing songs from yesteryear with such precision.
Not enough superlatives and seeing John Steel on drums and Mickey Gallagher plying their craft was something else. More than ably led by Danny Handley on guitar with great vocals and Robert Ruiz on bass it truly was a night of nostalgia for folk like me who grew up in the sixties with the music of The Animals with Eric Burdon out front in those days.
What we saw and heard on this night was as good as what the original Animals produced all those years ago.

What a night listening to Tim Gaze and The Echoes playing the music of Eric "Slowhand" Clapton at Club Burleigh. This was simple music, stripped back music, no fancy costume changes - this was the way Blues and Rock are meant to be played, au naturale - raw and plain. And boy did those of us present get treated to some great guitar playing by one of the best in the business, ably backed by some great musicians. For someone who grew up with the music of The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes it was so Wonderful Tonight! Slowhand - The Music Of Eric Clapton performed by Tim Gaze
