I had a wonderful conversation with another artist recently who paints the landscape, but with imaginary flourishes, so when you view his work you might be drawn in by the large scale cobalt blue skies, or verdant greens of the forest, then you might notice mythological creatures which he's associated with whichever landscape he happens to find himself in. He talks refreshingly openly about painting things according to the first impression it makes upon him, so you may well notice a snake in a tree root, or Pan playing his flute among the Oaks.
Seeing his work, reading his own descriptions of his works and later talking with him made me see similarities in my own experiences whilst out walking.
This tree trunk for example reminds me of a mythological Dragon with a very friendly face (which I've named Drago). Nearby is a slender tree with a contorted trunk, which is very wizard like. Maybe Drago is his familiar.

I drew the branch-curtains and wrote my own short story looking through the treetrunks on a high hill overlooking the "Virgin Mary-Island" ...
On top of the islet, which is located opposite Parga town, lies the tiny, whitewashed chapel of Panagia. On August 15th, the name day of the Virgin Mary, it is usually crowed by the faithful who arrive by taxi boats. There is also another little chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas, and the ruins of a small fort built by the French in 1808.

These tree trunks caught my eye as I walked by ... intertwined or tangled trunks, growing as one. Intertwined with each other is a good message for these times we live in... not so much tangled!
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!
Caught this morning while walking around my favourite car park/nature reserve.

This is in the grounds of Bishopscourt I thought it was a good way of reusing an old tree stump. A nice bit of carving too.
This particular snowstorm on March 9, 2023 were all taken from the comfort inside my home! It was a particular nasty snowstorm. So glad I was able to capture it. Last week I went for a photo shoot with one of my Granddaughters, and as she took shots in the cold with no gloves (her preference!), I suddenly remembered this image and tried to describe it to her..! I'd hurried to get this woman into the frame. She looked so poetic, carrying what looked like a treasured painting.
Aftermath.
Aftermath of a north Pacific storm, with remains of a boardwalk (left) and moss-covered logs (foreground and center) that were once the beams of a Haida longhouse. S'Gaang Gwaii Ilnagaay (Anthony Island), a UNESCO Heritage Site (Ninstints), Gwaii Haanas National Heritage Site, Haida Gwaii, BC. The root balls of two giant uprooted trees can be seen in the image and the long trunk of another runs horizontally across the frame. Amazing how quickly Mother Nature can rearrange a landscape!
