This is a picture of the trunk, starting at about 4 meters up. There is a rope hanging from one of the lowest branches.

I see an owl's eyes. This was the bottom of a tree trunk and I thought it was pretty neat looking.

Just discovered that both of our pear trees in the front yard are covered in holes like this. A big mystery, but I was suspicious. Alas, I think we have one of these - a Yellow-bellied sapsucker. I always thought it was just a Woodpecker. Now I have to figure out if it's going to damage the tree. Yikes.
