We have not seen this much snow since the pandemic began. It came yesterday. Not long after this photo was taken, one of big tree branches collapsed. Snow was pretty, but can also be destructive. It caused us out of power for 20 hours in a fridge temperature.

A male Grey Squirrel with a one tract mind, stayed away for a short time to fool the female White Squirrel. He slowly was making his way back to her hiding spot and waiting for her to be confident to leave. Then he would pounce on her to mate with her. At least that was his plan!

An acorn woodpecker manages its granary. These are insanely busy birds, they never seem to stop. They're also very communal, working together. So first they gather acorns and put them into their granary, basically, trees with lots of acorn-sized holes pecked in the trunks and branches. As the acorns season, they then move them from larger holes to smaller ones. They really hammer them in to try to keep them safe from squirrels and jays.

Back to pictures of Kenya (I have hundreds more!) and this beautiful bird called a European Roller. I saw many of them during my safari days, usually perched like this on the end of tree stumps and branches looking for insects & small rodents.
A Cinnamon Squirrel is a colour morph or variation of a Black Squirrel. This was the first time, I had ever seen one and I was happy to get some photos of it before it scurried off.
