One of the state trees that surround the National Christmas tree in front of the White House each year. The states select the ornaments for their tree, which are encased in waterproof bubbles.
This lion (Panthera leo) pride really loved this tree. There are at least five of them up there, and many more milling around.

This big leaf maple towered over my son Cole. It is the
largest tree of its kind that I have ever viewed!
I was really at a Dairy Queen parking lot in New Braunfels, TX when I took this photo, not at a beach. Fortunately our area is warm enough to support many tropical and sub tropical plants year round.
It's funny, the way something simple can transport us somewhere else. I looked up and instantly I thought of all our years spent in Port Aransas and how much I love being there, or anywhere coastal or tropical is good with me!
