Another reflection photograph taken during the foggy morning. A tree was popping up from the water, the heavy snow and subsequent thaw meant that the water was higher up the bank than usual!
I went out this morning to get some misty scenes down by the river, but it had cleared by the time I got there.
I've always felt sorry for lone trees! They stand out in our field of vision, and can be admired from afar, whereas those that live in a forest just merge into a mass, like people in cities. But trees like this one aren't just lone trees, they are lonely trees. I feel for them
They are fixed to a spot, no prospect to move. They stand out in sunshine, rain or night. Warm or cold. They have no neighbours, indeed no voice to call out to friends. They have children, but they have been scattered on the wind. They have limbs, but none that can reach out to touch. They have feelings, but none that anyone will ever know. They shiver and bend as seasons come and go, but no one to soothe them or hug them close.
I never see a lone tree. I see a lonely soul.
