The 5th Annual Sunol Glen Trashion Show is an event culminating a variety of week-long environmental activities hosted during Earth Week, April 28-May 2. The goal of this extremely popular event is to get students at this Bay Area K-8th Grade school thinking differently about waste in order to create positive behavior change.

This is just a small portion of the trash we picked up at the Malibu Creek Beach today. Every time we go hiking or to the beach we bring at least one bag with us to pick up trash. Sometimes we are amazed at what is left in an otherwise beautiful area. (Often, there is a trash can within sight of the garbage on the ground. ) We know we shouldn't have to pick up after other people but the alternative would be to ignore it, as most people do. Why do people throw their refuse on the ground???
A collaboration between the Exploratorium, MAKE Magazine, and Pixar Animation Studios, Open MAKE is a monthly program highlighting the tools, techniques, and ingenuity of local Makers. Visitors are invited to participate in tinkering and making activities inside the Tinkering Studio, where Makers from around the Bay Area will share their work.

Who wants pretty flowers, diamond rings, or an expensive night out on the town. True, deep, and lasting romance is best exemplified when your significant other spray paints their sentiment on a trash barrel at a boat ramp parking lot on the Meramec River. This almost makes me tear up. Almost.

The Tween program this week was Trash Can Archaeology and the kids were tasked with creating something from stuff found in the trash!

A black binbag has come to join the carrier bag that was abandoned by its fellow a couple of days ago.
