The 5th Annual Sunol Glen Trashion Show is an event culminating a variety of week-long environmental activities hosted during Earth Week, April 28-May 2. The goal of this extremely popular event is to get students at this Bay Area K-8th Grade school thinking differently about waste in order to create positive behavior change.

The Tween program this week was Trash Can Archaeology and the kids were tasked with creating something from stuff found in the trash!

This photograph was taken by and is courtesy of professional photographer Thomas Schwab of Moments by Thomas (www.momentsbythomas.net). These photos how the section of Bread and Cheese Creek in the Berkshire area between Merritt Boulevard and Poplar Avenue looked after 149 volunteers braved a cold rainy day on April 2, 2011 and removed 8 tons of trash, 3.5 tons of metal, 26 shopping carts, 28 tires, 4 bicycles, 9 cell phones, 4 plastic trash cans, 5 Christmas trees, 3 fifty-five gallon drums, a microwave, a box full of unused colostomy bags, a Lazy Boy recliner.
