The Banded Demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens) is a species of damselfly belonging to the family Calopterygidae. It is often found along slow-flowing streams and rivers. It is a Eurasian species occurring from the Atlantic coast eastwards to Lake Baikal and northwestern China.
This is a large damselfly with a total length of up to 48 millimetres (1.9 in) and a hindwing length of up to 36 millimetres (1.4 in).
The male has translucent wings which each have a broad, dark iridescent blue-black spot (or band) across the outer part. On immature dragonflies the spot is dark brown. The body can be a metallic blue or bluish green.
The dark wing patch of the male starts at the nodus (the slight dip midway down the upper edge of the wing) but can reach up to the wing-tip in southern races.[2] In the very similar species C. virgo (Beautiful Demoiselle), the dark starts before the nodus.
The female has translucent, pale green iridescent wings with a white patch near the tip (a pseudopterostigma), and a metallic green body.
The same balloon as before. This was right before it was about to lift off.
This balloon was so easy to photograph. I guess because it was so photogenic.
This sweet girl came to me "lightly" customized and normally I don't work on dolls already modified but she was very gently carved so I considered it and took the challenge.
Her base doll is a Miss Sally Rice translucent Blythe, and she is very happy to be traveling back to Spain to reunite with her mom again soon! Hope you all love her!
(Eyelid art was not by me)

The contrast of lime green spots with the maroon petals is a beautiful combo. I found two of these in our woods yesterday evening, growing together.
Louis Carrogis de Carmontelle, Figures Walking in a Parkland (rouleau transparent), 1783–89 (France), watercolor and gouache with traces of black chalk underdrawing, on translucent Whatman paper, 47.3 x 377 cm (J. Paul Getty Museum)
A park modeled on fashionable English gardens complete with faux ancient monuments, meandering paths and streams and a petite chateau. This painted roll was designed to be unfurled slowly in a purpose built box that was illuminated from behind to bring the scenes and its stories to life for an aristocratic French audience in the final years of the ancien regime.
This is not a photoshop effect nor is it an multi-exposed shot. It is a 1.3 sec shot of a dice when my son decided to flick it aside at the last moment. The result is a ghostly image with both the 5 and it's background captured by the long exposure. Cool eh :)
