While visiting the London Polymer Clay Group, I gave a talk on translucent and polymer clay. Here I am giving a demo on how to use old, hard translucent.

A translucent gate adds a splash of colour to a residential street near Connaught Place.

It is what it is. I loaded up as much trans-red and trans-green (with some creative license in those color groups) and some trans-clear for fullness. Merry Christmas and all that!

Yasuni National Park, Ecuador

A translucent Aqua Aura crystal, along with two smaller quartz crystals is permanently set into a vintage brass bullet casing. The spent casing is a .234 Winchester shell that has been cut to size. The beautiful aqua blue crystal has rare symmetrical faceting and an amazing iridescent sheen. Aqua Aura crystals are prized in part because of a microscopic layer of gold that cover the crystals, and provide the beautiful rainbow of colors that flash across the crystals, which is evident in this photo. The smaller quartz crystals are clear with beautiful facets of their own.

An antique brass clock hand is a great Nouveau style addition that flows down the brass casing onto the blue crystal. A 9” antiqued brass chain runs through the wire wrap loop, and a unique metal clasp is used as the connector. The pendant measures 2 ¼” from the base of the casing to the tip of the crystal.
