First London Fleet No.SRM3 650 DYE.

An AEC Routemaster with Park Royal H36/28R bodywork that was new to London Transport in 1963 as Fleet No.RM1650, a standard red Routemaster.

In 1977 it was one of a number of buses painted into a special silver livery to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and renumbered SRM3.

It was repainted back into standard red and reverted to RM1650 by the end of the year, it remained in service until withdrawn from London in 1985.

It later operated with Blackpool Transport as No.525 and Reading Mainline Buses as No.37. It was then sold to a Kent fruit farm for transporting fruit pickers from field to field.

In 2000/2001 it was one of 43 Routemasters bought by London Bus Services. It was refurbished by Marshall Buses in Cambridge, repainted into London red and fitted with a new Dennis Dart engine for further use by First London.

In 2002 it was repainted again into a special gold livery to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II before being repainted back into standard red by the end of the year.

In 2004 as part of the 50th anniversary of the Routemaster it was repainted back into its silver livery and renumbered back to SRM3.

It was then used in regular service on Kensington High Street to Trafalgar Square, Heritage Route 9H by First London.

In June 2013 First ceased its operations in London, the Heritage Route 9H and the 10 Routemasters used on it (Including SRM3) passed to new London operator Tower Transit (Part of The Transit Systems Group).

In July 2014 Tower Transit ceased operating Route 9H.

SRM3 is currently being stored at Tower Transit's Westbourne Park Bus Garage along with the other 9 Routemasters.

It is seen here operating Heritage Route 9H passing Trafalgar Square, London.

Looking much better with a new coat of paint.

Tower Transit route 295: Ladbroke Grove, Sainsbury's - Clapham Junction

Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury's (U)

This is a rare one: a hybrid on the 295. I have seen it appear on a bus tracker twice prior to this photo and I am happy I have got this one in my collection as I have been waiting for time.

DNH39122 (SN12 ASZ) was on the 295 during the day before being subbed by DNH39131, which was previously on the 23; I assume DNH39122 had some kind of technical fault as it was parked and succeeded by two allocated Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL (VN) buses on the route at the Ladbroke Grove bus stand for more than half an hour. A hybrid dual photo can be seen in this week's addition of Weekly Weird Workings on the homepage slideshow of The West London Bus Blog.

A Blue Line train sits at the Farragut West station of Washington DC's Metro. Opened in 1976 it is relatively modern in terms of a public transit system (for America anyway). Three lines (Blue, Silver, and Orange) serve this station with a train arriving every 2-3 minutes. The circular lights on the platform edge flash when a train is 20-30 seconds from arriving.

After many years of neglect, they are at it! Here they are working just west of the King St. Station on this particular day.

Electric Buses!

Fleet No MO 8395, City bound via Martin Place. An electric bus, taken on the corner of Pitt Street and Rawson Place. Sydney is gradually replacing its fleet of buses with the electric variety. The result? Cleaner air, and a quieter service. A sure winner for this chap!

This year's Notting Hill Carnival saw quite a few Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 buses on the Volvo B9TL chassis from route 266 make appearances on route 328. Route 328 required these vehicles as an extra amount of Volvo B7TLs from its allocation had been added to the full B7TL allocation of route 31 for carnival service, thus allowing newer buses on route 328 and to my complete oblivion, Enviro400s on the 28.

It's always a great achievement and bonus to photograph an odd-working curtailment appear out-of-the-blue. This is not the first time I have met DN33794 (SN13 CHG) on a route other than its allocated route 425; almost a month prior I photographed this in Harewood Place off Oxford Street on route 25 approaching the route's terminus at Holles Street.

Finally got this odd-working, which should be on the 425! Route 25 is allocated with Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL (VN) and Alexander Dennis Enviro400 (DN) buses with the 30 also allocated with Alexander Dennis Enviro400 (DN) buses, all 11-reg. When Tower Transit gained routes 425, N550 and N551 on 31 August 2013, they allocated new 13-reg Alexander Dennis Enviro400s to the routes. However, the 425 has been seeing none of their new buses as they have been regularly straying onto central London routes 25 and 30, dumping existing Enviro400s onto the 425.

Assumed the only Plaxton Presidents still operative were the 52-reg TN-classed buses TN33197-99. But then seeing TN33185 late this summer, I wonder what other old buses First London left in their backyard to Tower Transit's interest.
