The imposing geology of the Giant's Causeway, Antrim, Northern Ireland.
The Giant's Causeway, located in County Antrim, on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with four, five, seven and eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres thick in places.

Transforming a deer photograph into a Van Gogh-style masterpiece using AI is a fascinating blend of nature and artistry! Here’s how you can do it:
Capturing the Deer
- Lighting & Composition: Opt for soft, natural light, preferably during golden hour, to highlight the texture of the deer’s fur.
- Background: Consider framing the deer against a dramatic landscape—perhaps misty woods or a sunlit field—to enrich the final aesthetic.
- Movement vs. Stillness: A standing, contemplative deer might suit a portrait effect, while one mid-stride could add dynamic energy.
AI Style Transfer
To achieve a Van Gogh effect:
- Use Style Transfer Tools: Platforms like Deep Dream Generator, Runway ML, or Prisma allow AI to overlay famous artistic styles.
- Adjust Brushstroke Effects: Van Gogh’s style is known for bold brushwork and swirling patterns, so tweak settings to exaggerate movement in the image.
- Color Enhancements: Amplify the saturation and introduce warm yellows, deep blues, and contrasting greens—hallmarks of his palette.
- Texture Refinement: Some tools let you emphasize impasto-like effects, mimicking his thick paint application.

Kronborg (Danish pronunciation: is a castle and historical stronghold in the town of Helsingør, Denmark. Immortalised as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Kronborg is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
The castle is situated on the extreme northeastern tip of the island of Zealand at the narrowest point of the Øresund, the sound between present Denmark and the provinces of present Sweden. The latter were under Danish control at the time the castle was built. In this part, the sound is only 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) wide, hence the strategic importance of maintaining a coastal fortification at this location commanding one of the few outlets of the Baltic Sea.
The castle's story dates back to a stronghold, Krogen, built by King Eric VII in the 1420s. Along with the fortress Kärnan in Helsingborg, on the opposite coast of Øresund, it controlled the entrance to the Baltic Sea. From 1574 to 1585, King Frederick II had the medieval fortress radically transformed into a magnificent Renaissance castle. The main architects were the Flemings Hans Hendrik van Paesschen and Anthonis van Obbergen. The sculptural work was coordinated by Gert van Groningen.
In 1629, a fire destroyed much of the castle, but King Christian IV subsequently had it rebuilt. The castle has a church within its walls. In 1658, Kronborg was besieged and captured by the Swedes, who took many of its valuable art treasures as war booty.
In 1785 the castle ceased to be a royal residence and was converted into barracks for the Army. The Army left the castle in 1923. After a thorough renovation, the complex was opened to the public.
The Long Corridor is a covered walkway in the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. The total length of the Long Corridor is 728 metres and it is decorated with more than 14,000 paintings, especially on the ceiling and its beams, which divide it into 273 sections. Along the corridor there are four octagonal pavilions. Each of these pavilions symbolises the four climatic seasons of the year. The more than 14,000 paintings have a wide variety of subjects: historical figures, famous buildings, landscapes, flowers, birds, fish, insects... Of particular importance are those depicting folk and traditional tales, fables and episodes from classical Chinese literature. As a part of the Summer Palace, the Long Corridor was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December, 1998.
There is no doubt that the Long Corridor is a beautiful place during the day. But it is at night, with the arrival of darkness and the lighting of the chinese lanterns, that it reaches its true splendour, creating a special atmosphere and transforming into a long, luminous and sinuous thread in the midst of the darkness. It is at night when it becomes a magical place, where stories, tales, fables, imagination... come to life and arise. Dreams and tales, in the middle of the night and darkness.

Tranquiliza tu mente. Descansa tus ojos y duerme bien.

Aspen trees (Populus tremuloides) are an iconic symbol of the Colorado high country, covering roughly 5 million acres (20%) of the state's forested land. They are primarily known for their smooth white bark and leaves that shimmer in the breeze, earning them their name "Quaking Aspen". Their glossy green, heart-shaped leaves have flattened stems that allow them to twist and flutter in even the lightest breeze. The beautiful sound of Quaking Aspen leaves is very distinct and are often described as a relaxing soft whispering rustle that differs from any other tree in the forest.
In autumn, the leaves transform into vibrant shades of golden yellow, for which they are famous but they can occasionally turn vivid colors of orange or red depending on weather conditions that year.
Aspen trunks are distinctively known for their smooth, grayish-white appearance. But there is also a slightly noticeable tint of green beneath the surface that allows the tree to photosynthesize even in winter. The bark also features black, eye-shaped scars where lower branches have naturally fallen off which actually adds to the tree's beauty. It is because of the Aspen's multiple, distinctive characteristics that you would rarely hear someone ask "What kind of tree is that?" especially when they are "QUAKIN' IN THEIR TRUNKS" !!!
Return to the old Liège baths and thermal baths transformed into a Cité Miroir, a place of debate, education and culture.
The Liège alderman Georges Truffaut launched the Bains et Thermes project. It includes two swimming pools, a bus station, a hydrotherapy section, additional premises, a café-restaurant, a dance hall. The modernist architect Georges Dedoyard will be appointed after a competition with very strict regulations.
The building was completed under the Nazi occupation and opened its doors to the public in May 1942. Georges Truffaut, who had died in resistance in England a month earlier, would never see his project succeeded.
Considered one of the most important achievements of the Modernist style of the interwar period, the Sauvenière building takes the form of a liner of majestic proportions. Inside, the most unique feature is the large pool hall which stretches 80 meters long and more than 10 meters high.
Dedoyard was inspired by the German Bauhaus artistic and architectural movement. The elementary forms - here the cube and the sphere - are highlighted, symmetry reigns. Bare walls, clean lines, the omnipresence of reinforced concrete and glass go in the direction of this essentially functionalist architecture.
Tail Lights..
A thick fog blanketed the city, transforming the urban landscape into an ethereal, almost surreal scene. I find myself particularly drawn to foggy nights, as they lend an extraordinary coolness to any image. This photograph captures the moment cars navigate the foggy streets, their brakes applied as they approach the corner's stop sign. Occasionally, a passing vehicle would illuminate the surroundings with warm, inviting yellow and white lights, further enhancing the atmospheric quality of the shot.

The summer flower meadows around Muker in the Swaledale valley are a true spectacle—an explosion of colour that transforms the landscape into something almost magical. Without a doubt, this area is one of my personal highlights in the entire Yorkshire Dales. In the height of summer, it’s not a stretch to say it feels pretty close to English landscape perfection.
For this image, I crouched down low among the wildflowers, opened up the aperture wide, and composed the shot to draw the eye through the meadow towards the old stone barn in the distance. The contrast of nature’s fleeting beauty against the timelessness of the Dales’ heritage is what makes this area so very special.

I always had the plan to post more shots of the wonderful Iskanderkul in Tajikistan, but it is already three years ago that I finished my trip through central Asia, and how the world has changed since then.
Beside this shot www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/49221949713/in/photol..., that I posted a long time ago, there were many more.
This image was taken when we left early next morning. The scenery was gorgeous thanks to the light and the haze, and the lake got a wonderful turquoise color.
Iskanderkul is situated in the northwest of Tajikistan, in the Fann-mountains. I am not sure if it was named after Alexander the great, the stories are somewhat vague on this matter, but what is sure is that the dacha of the Tajik president is situated at the east end of the lake.
We spent two days at this lake, and although this scenery is fantastic it took me a lot of pictures to capture its grandness. Not only the lake but the surrounding mountains are so stunning you don't know where to look all the time. Enjoy!
20 September 2019 I came back from my journey over a part of the Silk Road to and through Central Asia. 4 months of traveling through 14 countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran) before I flew home from Teheran. An impressive journey in countries that are extremely beautiful, with lovely and welcoming people and diverse cultures and history.
Intense traveling with more than 20000 kilometers in our mobile home on sometimes roads that hardly could be called that way. We saw many villages and cities (some wonderful, others very ugly), countries that are transforming from the old Soviet era into something more related to older cultures and the way people live, often funded by oil readily available around the Caspian sea. We saw the amazing mountains south of the Black Sea, the wonderful Caucasus, and the high mountains in the far east close to China with peaks over 7000 meter, and not to forget the (Bulgarian) Alps!
We crossed the great steppe of Kazakhstan. a drive of at least 5000 km, the remnants of lake Aral, once one of the biggest lakes of the world, saw a rocket launch from Baikonur (this little part is Russian owned), we crossed many high mountains passes, and drove the breathtaking canyon that comes from the Pamir, beginning at ca 4500 meter, and going down for ca. 400km to an altitude of 1300 meter, driving for 100's of kilometers along the Afghan border.
And then the numerous lakes with all sorts of different colors from deep cobalt blue to turquoise, and one rare spectacle in Turkmenistan where a gas crater is burning already for more than 40 years. And finally and certainly not the least to mention an enormous amount of wonderful, hospitable and welcoming people. The woman often dressed in wonderful dresses, and bringing a lot of color in the streets of almost of all countries we visited.

The Pacific horizon transforms into a vivid canvas of amber and deep indigo as the sun dips below the Santa Monica coast. This shot captures the iconic pier in its most transitionary state, where the warm glow of the streetlamps begins to compete with the final rays of a California sunset. The architectural silhouettes of the pier decks and the gentle ripple of the tide create a rhythmic contrast between the bustling energy of the boardwalk and the vast, serene expanse of the ocean.
There is something timeless about watching the day end from the edge of the Santa Monica Pier. As the salt air cools, the structure becomes a perfect vantage point for observing the interplay of light and shadow over the water. Whether it's the glow reflecting off the tide or the silhouettes of people sharing a quiet moment on the railing, this scene perfectly encapsulates the laid-back, cinematic essence of West Coast living.
When she transformed into a butterfly,
the caterpillars spoke not of her beauty,
but of her weirdness.
They wanted her to change back
into what she had always been.
But she had wings.
-Dean Jackson
A few weeks ago Alex Currie, Valerie Kasinski, Elaina Trapani and I took a little road-trip to Taughannock falls.
Elaina gracefully modeled this set of wings and looked absolutely magical! I made the wings a few weeks prior, they are manually cut, painted, wired, and stitched together by hand.
A small portion of a large mural "Four Seasons" the Artist SMUG ... Glasgow Scotland.
Smug One is a Glasgow based artist specialising in photo-realistic graffiti. Since first picking up a spray can 11 years ago Smug’s work quickly grew into a perfectionist’s obsession with heavy line work, letters and characters developing into a more photo-realistic style which has been widely exhibited. Entirely freehand, using aerosol cans alone, Smug’s paintings are meticulously rendered works which draw upon an eclectic range of influences, often transforming uncomfortable subjects into stunning pieces on canvas and in industrial and abandoned settings…

Returning to the pride of lions who were lounging around in Ngala, this is one of the scenes from that late afternoon. The magical light did not transform her into a cartoon character as it did the male lion. It just highlighted her as the queen of the savanna.
This is my last monarch caterpillar who, as of this afternoon, became a member of the chrysalis group. He/she will now hang out looking green along with 21 other chrysalids for the next 10-14 days.
Via Cristoforo Colombo is the main thoroughfare in Riomaggiore, the southeasternmost village in the Cinque Terre National Park in the Liguria region of Italy. This pedestrian street connects the upper part of the village to the marina and is lined with buildings characteristic of Ligurian vernacular architecture, known as “case-torri” (tower houses). The narrow, tall facades of these buildings are painted in polychrome shades of terracotta, ochre, and yellow, and were historically designed to optimize the limited space between the mountain and the Mediterranean Sea. Via Cristoforo Colombo is the center of the town's social and commercial life, reflecting the dynamic between the preservation of local traditions and the strong presence of international tourism. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, Riomaggiore has transformed its economy, once based on terraced viticulture and fishing, into one of the most visited destinations on the Italian Riviera.
