after weeks of rain, finally there was a partial clear day to go for my sunset shots. here is a shot taken at kenalang beach.

Hamilton lake, Leicester.

After a tiring 4 hour drive home from work it was a real pleasure to find some near perfect conditions at Langstone Harbour, Hampshire to capture the sunset!

I met with my Flickr friend Andy (www.flickr.com/photos/insearchofgoodlight/) the harbour water was calm and some clouds & colour in the sky - what more does a man need to relax and admire the beauty of nature!

1/13 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.

We visited the Portland zoo over the weekend and I Couldn't help but capture these bubbles in the polar bear tank. They were so peaceful looking.

This is Strengsdalsvannet on the island Nøtterøy in Norway.

Poem.

The West Coast of Scotland starts so green, low and mellow on the golfing links of Ayrshire.

So verdant, forested and peaceful in the convoluted yachting havens of Argyll or Dalraida.

By Lochaber the Nevis Range dominate the mountain backcloth of long “Sounds” and sea lochs.

Ardnamurchan, Arisaig and Morar provide the balmy silver sands and island vistas of so many films and documentaries.

Knoydart to Torridon provides the harsh bare rock and steep slopes of fjord-like sea-lochs.

Gairloch to Gruinard is a series of broad bays backed by distant mountain vistas.

Sutherland is unique.

From an endless swathe of *“knock and lochan” hinterland, the low-hill profile is dramatically broken by stark, ominous, monolithic mountains rising from the ancient bedrock like the back of a monstrous dinosaur rising from its slumbers.

Here in Assynt the coastline is undramatic but austere.

Ancient, bare-rock headlands are pristine and pure,

punctuated by dazzling, isolated bays of silver-white sand.

Beautiful, but quite unpretentious.

Golden light at The Pool in Central Park this afternoon Feb 6, 2017.

The city is crowded

My friends are away and I'm on my own

It's too hot to handle

So I got to get up and go

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Leaving me here on my own

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Now you've gone

You're not the only one

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Leaving me here on my own

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Now you've gone

Shannon and I spent the weekend in the Scotland Highlands, Glenco.

This place was truly beautiful and the weather and light really turned it all on for us.

This Lake was so still like complete glass, NO the reflections are NOT photoshopped they are completely in camera and single exposure.

This shot was captured handheld with minor contrast and saturation tweaks done in post.

Sunset at Noosa North Shore

A change of pace...

We'd driven past Levin's Rose Gardens a couple of times but the Roses had looked wind-blown and damaged - past their prime in other words - so we hadn't bothered to look more closely.

One afternoon, not wanting to have to pay for parking on Main Street(!!!), we parked beside the Gardens where parking was Free!

Surprise, surprise... As soon as we got out of the car, we were 'struck' by the Fragrance radiating from a whole new set of beautiful flowers bursting forth...

We never did get to go Window Shopping on Main Street that afternoon. Instead we spent a good part of the day just enjoying the peace and tranquility of those Gardens...!

Landscapes and I have a contentious relationship... for a long time I just wouldn't take them because of the frustration of never being able to capture the beauty and magic of the scene you get from actually being there.

I've changed my mind, but still have a lot to learn! I intentionally underexposed this because my camera tends towards overexposure and all those beautiful colors get blown out. And about that aperture thing.....

A quiet scene with tea fields I discovered deep in the mountains around Qiandaohu.
