The city is crowded

My friends are away and I'm on my own

It's too hot to handle

So I got to get up and go

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Leaving me here on my own

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Now you've gone

You're not the only one

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Leaving me here on my own

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Now you've gone

The Auburn Botanical Gardens in Sydney (NSW, Australia) will be holding the Cherry Blossom festival on the weekend of the 20th-21st August 2016. As the visitor numbers are expected to exceed 40,000 people, I decided to get in a day early to try and beat the crowds and see the flowers in bloom before the crowds. The gardens were still quite busy. This is a shot of the Japanese Garden area.

.

The radome at the top of the Wasserkuppe (950 m) is a relic of the Cold War. We are located here less than 10 km from the former "Iron Curtain." NATO allies have agreed for decades: if the Warsaw Pact attempts to attack NATO (there are demonstrable strategies on both sides), it will happen right here, at the so-called "Fulda Gap."

St. Leonard's church sits overlooking this pond in Hampshire and while I was there the amount of monster sized fish (carp) that I saw was incredible. Thrashing tails would break the surface occasionally and others would just glide by in plain view. I was very lucky tonight to get such good conditions for shooting even if it wasn't the most spectacular sunset there were some nice clouds to break up the sky and it was such a peaceful setting in the middle of the English countryside. I also had the great pleasure of meeting John, also a flickr user, and we had a chat for a little while as the sun finally disappeared from view. Good times.

Very few things beat sitting at the beach on a warm summers afternoon, looking out over the beautiful Salish Sea. No whales today unfortunately but lots of other things to entertain.

In pitch black I drove 1 hour to the southern parts of Skåne to see the sunrise, but the clouds stole it from me. but then I spotted these stones, forming such a nice pattern and just had to shoot them, sunrise or not.

Like water which can clearly mirror the sky and trees only so long as its surface is undisturbed, the mind can only reflect the true image of the Self when it is tranquil and wholly relaxed.

Some reeds in a local lake on a tranquil day in October

Podyjí National Park (Czech: Národní park Podyjí) is a national park in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It protects near-natural forests along the deep Dyje River valley. It is a biom whose well-preserved state is unique in Central Europe. It connects to the smaller Nationalpark Thayatal in Austria.

Podyjí National Park is characterized by extraordinary scenery, being home to features such as rocky amphitheatres, cliffs, meanders, detritus fields, impervious ravines, several types of heatland adorned with muilti-coloured layers of thermophilic plants, or alluvial plains around the river Dyje. The division of the valley along the river Dyje creates two distinctive ecological regions and thus contributes to the high biological diversity of the park.

-----

Did make a weekend (boat) trip across the Podyjí national park in late October to find it empty and silent on and around the Dyje river.

We were lucky with the weather: peak of autumn colours and delicate sunlight created a really fairy-tale atmosphere. It was (sometimes) cold on the river, however still very beautiful.

Hard to choose from tonights photos. The sunset changed contantly,so every picture looked different. This is one my wife liked so I went with it. ....LOOKS BEST ENLARGED ON BLACK (push L)
