A walking trail in the woods near our cabin in Door County, Wisconsin. Taken in the Fall color season. I love the white birch trees!! View On Black
Seemed like I was the only person out hiking this trail in the rain in Mount Rainier National Park. I think I saw one other person the whole hike. The greens along the trail were so unreal-looking...looked like a fairy tale land.
The wooded, one mile trail at the barrier island opened up to a wide view of the Barnegat Bay. The previously frozen waters had begun to thaw.
"Barnegat Bay is a small brackish arm of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 42 miles (67.2 km) long. It is separated from the Atlantic by a long barrier peninsula."

Took a road trip along the Talbot Trail recently on a foggy day and photographed my favourite abandoned house. Looks as though someone had been burning something near the house. It would be a terrible shame if something happened to this place because of someone's careless behavior.

So many trails in Western North Carolina are the proverbial walk in the woods. The Hawksbill Mountain Trail is special. There are several spurs on the way to the summit that offer magnificent views of the Linvill Gorge below, but the payoff is to reach the top. The rock outcrops that form the hawk's bill are breath taking. It was a bit fogged in for today's hike, but still well worth the effort.

An early hike heading up the trail as the sun was rising. A cell phone shot so the quality wasn't what I normally like, but you use what you have, right?
Have a great weekend.

Apologies if I've been tardy in commenting. We're having a somewhat normal winter over the last three weeks for a change, which means a lot of snow. In fact, we're on day six with no school buses running. The priorities seem to be blowing out the driveway once or twice a day - and then again after the snowplow fills it back in again from the street. Aside from that, it's quite the winter wonderland and this morning we managed to strap on the snowshoes to get out on a section of Blue Trail. It was exhilarating and in this scene I liked how the light coming in through an opening in the trees gave depth to the image.
Our camera club might quibble about cutting off Lynn's legs but I did it intentionally to show the depth of snow and the direction of the trail.
Seven miles of trails travel through Silver Falls State Park to ten waterfalls. Beautiful trees line the trail that travels beside Silver Creek.
No better place to be on a lovely winter's day
This is the Memorial Forest Side Trail of the Bruce Trail... a gorgeous walk along the base of the escarpemnt which takes you by the base of Jones Falls and up through a crevice to the top of the escarpment.
