Sure it was trailing...but having never seen this one of a kind unit before I did my best to capture a clean roster shot here since this was a rather cool bonus. Iowa Interstate ES44AC 516 was blt. Dec. 2014 as part of the regional's third order of modern GE road power. It was specially painted in this Rock Island style red and yellow scheme as part of the IAIS' 30th anniversary celebrations.
It is seen here switching across South Sixth Street adjacent to the historic Rock Island depot.

We got the light trails we were after eventually . . . lol
A huge vote of thanks to everyone who added this as a favourite. Apologies for not replying sooner. I've been away for a few days. Really nice to come back to such positive feedback. Thanks! Really appreciated . . . made my weekend.

MIST SERIES - Perfect lighting condtions on a misty rainy day.. The hand carved totem poles are laughing faces (although look a little creepy). The trail is supposed to be a magical forest of serene happiness.

Yesterday before returning to Canada, Scott and I hit the trails looking for birds.
Turns out it was little too cold for the birds, we saw quite a few geese but they were a bit too far away for my 300mm, so we started looking elsewhere for photos.
At one point, he stopped to consult the trail map, and I turned around and saw this shot. Luckily that happened, because it was about the only photo that turned out for me.
Oh well, it was still a good walk!
Hope everyone had a good Saturday.

I had been debating with myself whether to grab my bike and return to Holluf Gård to get some better skies for the beautiful landscape out there. I decided against it, knowing that I already had plenty of unprocessed photos, that it was getting late and that I should actually be going to the store to get a few things. Before I knew it, I was out of the door with my tripod and camera bag, headed for the paddocks beyond Kohave Skov instead. Happy I did, the skies evolved quickly to something quite beautiful. Do you ever find yourself out for photos even when it is unplanned?
Thank you for stopping by, have a great day!

So many trails in Western North Carolina are the proverbial walk in the woods. The Hawksbill Mountain Trail is special. There are several spurs on the way to the summit that offer magnificent views of the Linvill Gorge below, but the payoff is to reach the top. The rock outcrops that form the hawk's bill are breath taking. It was a bit fogged in for today's hike, but still well worth the effort.

Pools of water form on the trails of Monument Valley after intense rain making it difficult for vehicles to navigate in the soft soil. Though total precipitation is limited, only 8 in. annually, when it does rain (mostly in August and September) the water is unable to be absorbed quickly and can remain on the surface for an extended period.
Monument Valley is a Navajo Tribal Park (30,000 acres) established in 1958 and located on the border of Arizona and Utah within the 16 million-acre Navajo Reservation. The Valley (actually a plateau) is one of the most iconic and enduring landmarks of the American West with its isolated red mesas, buttes and a sprawling sandy desert that has been photographed and filmed countless times. Crimson mesas and surreal sandstone towers rise hundreds of feet in the air. The rock formations in the background are called the "Totem Pole" (tall single spire on the left) and the "Yei Bi Chei Rocks".
The Totem Pole stands 400 ft. tall. The Yei-Bi-Chei resembles a holy figure among the Navajo people. In fact, distinguished Navajo men dress as Yei-Bi-Cheis and dance for healing purposes in a very sacred nine-day ceremony called the "Night Way Ceremony". The Yei-Bi-Chei rock formation appears to have a line formation of several different Yei-Bi-Chei dancers.

This well traveled hiking trail meanders through the woods adjacent to the lake. It splits ahead, one path to the north and one to the south. Which path to choose ...... what might be ahead?
