As the glacier retreated, huge chunks of ice fell to the ground and were partially or wholly smothered by sediments from the melting glacier. The sediment insulated the ice for a while, but when it eventually melted, the sediment settled around the edges of the glacial water creating a round pool - or kettle hole."

I took this during the solar eclipse. There is no noticeable difference from a normal day, its just makes the image that much cooler to me.
A clear sky last night and got a chance to do some star trails. Taken just at the back of our house. It would be better if the north pole is seen, unfortunately it is covered by trees. This is my third time to shoot for star trail and still in learning stage
A total of 83 minute exposure. A 1025 x 5 sec @ ISO 1600 with an opening of f3.5. Five seconds exposure was used to avoid over exposed photo since there is a light source from the left side.
Lost in this trail.... mesmerized with its beauty ..it's like a fantasy...inviting me in..
but reality struck...and it dragged me away..
Yet another long exposure at Le Sorbelle in Tuscany. This is the best one around the pool, IMHO.

The South Trail is very well groomed and is a multi-purpose trail, handling hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. At this point I was coming across a lot of hikers (some in large groups), a couple of bicyclists, but no horses.
I went to a near by bridge at night and got this photo with a 1 1/2 min shutter. I did use a CP filter even though I didn't need it.
I stopped to take some photos along the trail, so I propped up my cane on the remnants of a tree. It was better that the pictures that I stopped for. lol

A Snowy Trail: We've been flirting with winter temperatures for a couple weeks now, but reality hits home when you wake up to a couple inches of new snow. Of course, that opens up opportunities that weren't there before, so I'm overall happy for the change (for now).

A two-hour, 480 image shoot resulted in this star-trail stack, with several Geminid meteors visible. Shoot in suburban Carindale, so heavily light polluted, but the skies were nice and clear.
The trail to Heart-Shaped Waterfall on St Helena Island is the most pleasant forest walk near Jamestown.
Big tree with buttress roots in La Amistad International Park, Costa Rica - La Amistad is a massive 1,500-square-mile wilderness park in Costa Rica and Panama; we barely touched the edge of it on a trail that starts at Las Alturas Biological Station.

Road trip Canadian Rockies 2017
Day 16 : Last night in Golden, BC. The weather seemed to be perfect all day. Indeed, I had a great blue sky with sunshine all day. I decided to go hike the Cirque Peak trail, in Banff National Park. Really great trail with very few people past Helen Lake. In fact, I only saw another group of 3 hikers this day, that I past near the beginning, and that joined me later on Cirque Peak summit, when I began my way down.
