Katy Trail State Park is built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad (better known as the Katy). When the railroad decided to cease operation on its route from Machens in St. Charles County to Sedalia in Pettis County in 1986, it presented the chance to create an extraordinary recreational opportunity -- a long-distance hiking and bicycling trail that would run almost 200 miles across the state.
This was my first 20 mile bicycle ride. I was working too hard to take many photos. :-)

A low tide and moderate fog combined nicely with the morning light on the Barnaby Head Trail near Saint John.
Light trails from I35 in Duluth. This is first trip that I ever tried taking light trail photos.

Gracie and Benni have had a hard time trying to get together during the recent heat wave. Yesterday they ran on the field and wrestled and chased until they were tired enough for a trail walk. And this photo.
Gracie will be 2 in Dec. and has become Benni's most loved friend. Both are being good girls and looking at their moms.
The City of Trail is situated on the Columbia River in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. Trail has been declared BC’s Number One Sports Town offering a wealth of sports – from golfing and fishing to mountain biking, hiking, skiing and especially hockey. The Teck Lead-Zinc Smelter complex, one of the largest of its kind in the world, is located in Trail and drives the regional economy.

There are two Fawns and their mom that hang around the wood line, they come in for drinks often. This little one is so cute I am surprised that mom isn't at her side, must be just out of view from the trail cam

It's been ages since I tried anything like this. The set up at Evandale was far from ideal, and I didn't bring my lights to give the scene the full treatment, but this will do. It does remind me I really need to get out at night again.
The current timetable allows the train from Boyer to be photographed for much of its journey through the south and midlands, and with daylight savings, even further north. This is very different from when I did this in the 1980s, where you'd be lucky to see a train in daylight north of Bridgewater.
The Don River Railway's 50th anniversary was as good a reason as any to head back to Tasmania. Unlike my previous trip a few months ago, this time would be mostly for trains - the DRR's anniversary in Devonport, plus a couple of days either side for Tasrail chasing. 17 February 2025
