Tokyo Tower 東京の塔 is a communications and observation tower located in Shiba Park, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. At 332.5 metres (1,091 ft), it is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan. The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired lattice tower that is painted white and international orange to comply with air safety regulations.

Built in 1958, the tower's main sources of revenue are tourism and antenna leasing. Over 150 million people have visited the tower since its opening. FootTown, a 4-story building located directly under the tower, houses museums, restaurants and shops. Departing from here, guests can visit two observation decks. The 2-story Main Observatory is located at 150 meters (492 ft), while the smaller Special Observatory reaches a height of 250 meters (820 ft).

The tower acts as a support structure for an antenna. Originally intended for television broadcasting, radio antennas were installed in 1961 and the tower is now used to broadcast both signals for Japanese media outlets such as NHK, TBS and Fuji TV. Japan's planned switch from analog to digital for all television broadcasting by July 2011 is problematic, however. Tokyo Tower's current height is not high enough to adequately support complete terrestrial digital broadcasting to the area. A taller digital broadcasting tower known as Tokyo Sky Tree is currently planned to open in 2012.

The taller Tokyo Sky Tree is not as nice as Tokyo Tower. See it and u know what i mean.

The Tribune Tower is a 305-ft. (93 m), 21-story building located in downtown Oakland, California. Completed in 1923, the 89,251 sq.-ft. (8,291 sq.-m.) building was opened by Joseph R. Knowland on January 1, 1924, as the home of the Oakland Tribune newspaper, and is a symbol of both the Tribune and the city of Oakland.

The Torre Agbar is a 21st century skyscraper in Barcelona. It was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. The Agbar Tower measures 144 meters and consists of a 37 stories, including 4 underground levels. The building is one of the most unique in Barcelona, becoming the third tallest building in Barcelona, only after the Arts Hotel and the Mapfre Tower, both 154m .

Pre-Martello Tower no.11 built between 1788 and 1790.

Nikon D5000 and FF16 used to take this vertical shot (I failed to get the whole structure in shot a few days earlier).

I nearly gave up after 15 minutes due to poor lower level winds. But after a chat with a visiting French family I had another crack and eventually hit the stronger winds a bit higher up and it provided enough lift to get the D5000 up above the tower.

More shots to follow in this set including some ground based ones to give a fuller impression of this small fort.

Opened in 1916, Tower 106 controlled the interlocking at the north end of Dallas Union Station. The tower is a stone's throw away from Dealey Plaza where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Lee Bowers, the operator at Tower 106 that day, was a key witness to the assassination and testified to the Warren Commission. He was killed in a car wreck on an empty highway outside of Dallas in 1966. Located in the middle of a parking lot, Tower 106 still stands today and is owned by DART; here it is seen with the iconic Reunion Tower (right) and the Texas School Book Depository building (left) where Lee Harvey Oswald took the fatal shot.

Terregles Tower, (Knights Law Tower) Penicuik House Estate, Midlothian, Scotland

There is a Latin inscription above the door "Tibi sit prudentia Turris"

The original seat of the old proprietors of St Mungo's is still to be traced on an eminence above the Esk, and about half way betwixt the village and the present house of Pennycuick. It is now called the Tower, but the old name was Terregles (Terra Eclesiae, Terre d' Eglise).

OSA 1794

The Tower of Penicuik was pulled down by Sir J Clerk's father, who used the stones in the park dyke of Penicuik House (between 1654 and 1722).

In 1927, as part of the Hannauer improvements, work began to fill in trestlework in the Charles and Millers River Basin. The approach to North Station was reconfigured. The Charles River channel was moved 350 feet north and the old channel was removed. The Draw 1 bridges across the Charles were erected along with a new Tower A shown here which opened in 1931. At present (2013) the facade shown in the photo has settled badly and is shored up by timbers. Tower A is slated for restoration. While the operation of switches in the North Station area had been removed to MBTA's facility at Cobble Hill, Somerville, Draw 1 is still operated from Tower A.

The Juche Tower (officially the Tower of Juche Idea) is a monument in Pyongyang, North Korea. Completed in 1982, it is sited on the eastern bank of the River Taedong, directly opposite Kim Il Sung Square which is situated on the other side of the river. It was made to commemorate Kim Il Sung's 70th birthday. (Wikipedia)

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, and often extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower. The tower is now officially called the Elizabeth Tower, after being renamed to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The Elizabeth Tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower. The tower was completed in 1858 and had its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009,[4] during which celebratory events took place. The Elizabeth Tower has become one of the most prominent symbols of both London and the UK and is often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.

Sadly, the classic monorail has been taken out of service. Only a track segment remains with a train permanently parked on it to serve as a memorial to the old ride.

UPDATE: Tower was dismantled in November 2018.

The track segment and monorail train are also gone. I do not know the date of their removal.
