It was a windy day when I took this picture. As this place is always crowded with visitors, to find a spot to do long exposure was not so easy. One hour for one photo...
Definitively completed in the Swabian period, the Cathedral of Cefalù, which became a World Heritage Site in 2015, can now also be visited in its towers.
Built starting in 1131, its Romanesque style is enriched by Arab influences, and its appearance is pure wonder.
It is also possible to climb its Norman towers, which are different from each other: one is the square-plan tower, with battlements in the shape of flames, which would symbolize the papal miter and the power of the Church; the other is the octagonal-plan tower with Ghibelline merlons which would instead pay homage to the royal crown and the temporal power.

The tower is 634 metres high, the tallest structure in Japan, and the second tallest structure in the world! (the only taller one is Burj Khalifa). It was finished on February 29(!) in 2012 and opened to the public on May 22 that same year.

We left the Cinque Terre and took the train to Pisa for a night. I loved how the afternoon light made a second row of pillar shadows against the wall.
My summer sailing trip photos often include Toronto CN Tower shots .. though nature makes each one a little different.

You never know what you're going to get when getting up at 3am but this sunrise as definitely worth the effort!

Hassan Tower - is minaret towering over Rabat city.
The tower, built in the late twelfth century, is a symbol of the city. It should be 80 meters high, but it was never finished and reaches 44 meters. It is an example of Moroccan minarets.
The minaret was part of the unfinished mosque Hassan. This work was abandoned as early as 1199, when he died towering temple ruler. Unfinished building survived until 1755 when it collapsed after the earthquake. To this day, preserved only the basics of columns and Hassan Tower.

Wieża Hassana – to górujący nad Rabatem minaret.
