It's not D. azureus, it's actually D. auratus. Sorry about that!

My neighbors just got a new kitten. When I walk by in the late afternoon, he's there in the window, staring at me. He never blinks. He's tiny, but patient.
Best viewed large.
Found this tiny little guy on our sitting room floor.
No spiders were hurt in the taking of this photo :) released into the wild but will no doubt return!!

This tiny grasshopper was enjoying his view from the top of the grass while I was waiting to get some in-flight bird photos. It's nice to have a zoom lens that can close focus, otherwise I probably would not have gotten this shot. I had the Canon 100-400 version 2 on my Canon 7d ii, and it was able to close focus on this guy. Great lens if you're considering buying it.
Thanks for looking, and I really appreciate your kind comments.

Pachygaster leachii ♂, Stratiomyidae
3 mm (ID-cred: M. Persson)
I shot this little fly in July a couple of years ago. I thought it looked like a Drosophilid and it wasn't until today, when I revisited this folder in my library (looking for something else) that I realized it's a Stratiomyid.
Single exposure with diffused flash.
