Blipfoto Post for Tuesday 16 November 2010: Patience, Timing and Balance...
Are three virtues that I find very difficult to acheive for my photography at this time of year.
Patience: My commute is at a fixed time of day so there is a brief period of the year when my journey takes me across the River Forth at the right time of day to experience the sunrise. This happens twice a year, once in November and once in February so I only get a chance to get this picture about twice a year.
Timing: The light changes fast at this time of day and the sky and water light up like this for only a few minutes so you have to be fast to get into position to take the shot.
Balance: At this time of year the pavement is covered in ice....so dashing the few hundred yards from the car to the required position for the shot carrying a camera and tripod requires a lot of balance on such a slippery surface.
I'm happy to report that all three came together this morning and this shot is (I believe) an improvement on the last two shots taken last February and November. Now all I have to do is wait until February for my next attempt!
EDIT: This hit the Spotlight page of Blipfoto on 17 Nov 2010
This could be titled, 'The one that got away' but as it departed Doncaster West Yard 21mins late and then with the timings wildly varying as it headed down the South Yorkshire Joint line, east via Worksop and to Gainsborough, the timings changed from 201mins late, to 13mins early and then 158mins late at Clarborough and back again to 30mins early at Gainsborough. I had assumed this was just the reporting from various station which hadn't been kept up-to-date, and so I decided not to be too concerned. However, once at Barnetby, the timings looked more correct, it being 53mins early there as it set off along to Brocklesby and Ulceby and so onto the section of line to Barton-on-Humber, which with only 2 signal boxes at Goxhill and Oxmarsh, meant no reports would be seen on the track diagram, until it had returned to Ulceby. When it did, it was reported as being 43mins early and so the 'alarm bells rang' as it looked like it was 'getting a shift on', which was correct as buy the time it had gone back through Barnetby and reached Gainsborough Trent Junction, it was running 91mins early, 97mins by the time it reached Brancliffe East Junction on the Lincoln line. So my planned jaunt out at around 11am, for a pass in this area at about midday, suddenly turned into a bit of a rush to get somewhere for 10:30 at the latest, which, in the event, I just manged to do. Fortunately there was a Northern passenger service, 1L48, running along before it from Lincoln Central via Worksop and Sheffield to Leeds, with 195002, and the station stops for this service slowed up the passage of the Test Train.. Phew...
Here at upper left, now running 88mins early in sprightly fashion, the set has just come under the old redundant, but still in-situ, Darnall Flyover (bridge number MAC3/139A), and is heading along the down Lincoln Line in what looks like very pleasant terrain, the recent line clearance having now almost all grown back. This is one of the Network Rail, N.M.T., 'New Measurement Trains', operated by 'Colas Rail', with two class 43, H.S.T.s, at the front 43277, ex-43077, 'Safety Task Force', a rake of 5 test coaches and with 43357, still in 'Cross Country Trains' livery, at the back on the 3Q55, Derby R.T.C. via Barnetby & Sheffield to Derby R.T.C. The coaches were-
977986 - Brake Force Runner,
977985 - Brake Force Runner, with 'Improving Your Railway' on the side,
A Caledonian Sleeper Coach, number unknown,
999602 - Ultrasonic Test Coach, UTU-3 and
6263 - Generator Van
running on the 'Structure Gauging Train'.
At upper right, a fine view in good light, taken towards the busy centre of Sheffield and showing the latest, ongoing, development of student accommodation taking place in the Love St. area of 'Riverside' with 3 large tower-blocks now erected and filling up more open, once derelict, space, see the video here-

Ahead under Woodburn Bridge, Sheffield's S0154 signal on the Nunnery Bank down into Sheffield Station, is glowing red and the very early running set will be halted for around 12mins, awaiting clearance through to the station. 'Colas Rail' liveried class 43, 43277 ex-43077, 'Safety Task Force' is leading the set and with here, 43357, still in 'Cross Country Trains' livery, bringing up the rear, the whole lot slowing to a halt ahead under the bridge. The state of the rail-head on the Stocksbridge branch line, over on the right, is clear to see, nothing has run up here, I live not far from the line further north, and the evening Steel Train working, 6J57, from the Aldwarke Steel Works at Parkgate, has now been _deleted_ from the time table. In addition last weeks very early morning Test Train, on 24th August, coming up from Woodburn Junction at 00:26, show the set getting back to Woodburn at around 00:35, about 10mins later, which means the 45 minute jaunt up to Deepcar and back, did not happen, the HST set with 43357 & 43257, just reversing and heading off to Rotherham; another troubling sign for this line. The branch line is currently marked as 'SHUT' on the track diagram. By the time the Test Train had pulled up for a halt along the line, another working was making its way towards Woodburn, at this time of the day between 10:30 and 11am, this could only mean one thing, the aggregates train was heading this was from Tinsley Yard. It had left the Yard 83mins early, for some reason, having arrived earlier in the morning, 26mins late, at 07:00, from Coton Hill quarry with 2000tonnes on the 6E97 working, leaving at 21:04, the previous evening and spent 4 hours overnight at Humberstone Road near Leicester, continuing on north to here at 04:26.
At lower left, is GBRf class 66, 66741, 'Swanage Railway' on the empties return 6M01, from Tinsley Yard(GBRf) now to the quarry at Bardon Hill, with 20, JGA Bogie Aggregate Hopper Wagons and is seen passing along yet another 'greenway' from Broughton Lane, along the Lower Don Valley line and so on into Sheffield. It arrived at Woodburn's W0213 signal, just visible at the rear of the train, at around 10:45 whilst the Test Train was passing along the main line towards a stop on the Nunnery Bank. 66741 pulled away from the signal at 10:55 and commenced its journey south at the cross-overs near the site of the old Woodburn signal box/cabin, now a relay hut, unlike the past, when a view of both this line and the main line could be seen from here, at a pinch, using a 2-part panoramic view, this is now longer possible due the huge forest of trees and shrubbery...
At lower right, the set rattles over the cross-over outside the relay hut, and it was possible, just, to see the back of the Test TRain parked up and the further signal, W0154 with 66741 slowing to be brought to a halt at the signal in rear of that one, W0217, under the Woodburn Bridge and alongside the Nunnery SuperTram depot on the left.. The Test Train ran down into the station at 11:00 and ran though platform 6 without stopping, arriving in Derby 68mins early, this was followed 15 mins later by the Bardon freight which also ran along platform 6, arriving at Bardon Hill at 14:52
At the end of the evening, we thought we'd be running late when we were heading to the Ferris Wheel, but we weren't! This was the perfect time to be on it!!

This is a photograph from the Longwood GAA 10KM Road Race and Fun Run 2013 which was held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 13th October 2013 at 14:00. This is the fourth year which Longwood GAA have hosted race events. In the three previous years the club had organised a 5KM road race. This year, for the first time, the club have added a 10KM road race to the agenda on the day. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided my local fun runners with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course.
This is a photograph which is part of a larger set of photographs taken at the event. There were photographs taken at the start of the races, the 5Km point at Blackshade Bridge for the 10KM, and the finishes of both races in Longwood GAA. The full set is available at this link www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157636477484093/

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There were about 170 participants over the two events.
Weather: The weather was perfect for road racing with calm breeze and temperatures around 10C.
5KM Course: The 5KM course changed direction for the 2013 event. The race this year went on the reverse of the 2012 route. This seen the 5KM start at the Longwood GAA grounds and proceed into Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM is new for 2013. The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Stoney's Pub (goo.gl/maps/Of4fW) and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Stylia, More details on Wcities.com. Stylia combines a sumptuous setting with the subtlty of Moroccan cuisine. Located in the Medina, it occupies a former palace from the 15th century that was brilliantly renovated and turned into a restaurant in 1982. Against a background of Arabic music runs a bygone luxury: oriental carpets, ancient furniture and sophisticated tableware, walls adorned with zelliges and sculpted stuccos, rose petals on the tables and in the water of the fountains. At Stylia, the chefs are women and their cuisine is made by the book of the Morrocan gastronomy. Indulge yourself the marvelous Pigeon and Almond Basteeya or the Lamb and Zucchini Flavored with Cinnamon - delicious! This place has seasonal timings so call for further details.

Lower sex timing is a big hurdle in sexual satisfaction & it also embarrasses men and women but herbal kasturi capsule from herbal Mc increases.
Good thing I grilled early, because a little thunderstorm popped up out of nowhere, and it poured for a little while. Big fat drops of rain.. And as much as my attitude has changed about grilling, doing it in the rain still sucks!
My next house will have an outdoor kitchen that's rain-proof, and it'll be a whole new ball game. I want a lanai that's wide enough to stay dry under even in a driving rainstorm, because I do love to watch it rain - I just don't want to get wet while I watch. Or killed by lightning..
Used, in conjunction with a dial guage, to set ignition timing on motorcycles with points ignition, particularly two-strokes.
Possibly dates back to around 1969-70.
