This curious one year-old sloth crawled down to meet one of the agoutis who shares his exhibit. Taken at the Stone Zoo in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

It turned out to be a great year to re-seed part of the hayfield. A summer of plentiful rain has resulted in a really good stand of annuals, and it appears that the perennials are becoming well established.

All that rock picking sure paid off :)

My timing sheet for the 1Z29 07.25 Bolton- Swindon Lancashire Locomotive Society/T+N Railtours "The Swindon Ambassador 3" which shows that traveled to and from Manchester Victoria, although i can't remember, it also seems to show that the train never ran to time all day.

The tour was hauled through out by class 40 locomotive 40086 (D286) with a class 37/0 locomotive 37174 giving banking assistance up the Lickey incline.

The whole tour had a total Bolton-Bolton mileage of 481 behind 40086.

At this time there were only sixteen class 40's remaining in service, and 40086 made it to the end, all were switched off on the 22nd January 1985.

This is a photograph from the Rathfarnham 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, Ireland on Sunday 28th September 2013 at 10:00. This is one of the most popular runs in South County Dublin and is held in support of St. Luke's Cancer Hospital, Rathgar. This year's race attracted over 1,300 participants and the run is open to runners, joggers and walkers. The course is one of the fastest 5ks in the country with a downhill start and finish. This is an excellently organised race with marhsalling at every junction and Garda enforced road closures for the duration of the race. This race was held on a beautiful autumn morning. There was little or no breeze and there was mild temperatures of around 15C for the race.

This is a photograph which is part of a large set of photographs taken at the 1KM and 4KM mark on the course. The entire set of photographs can be found here on our Flickr profile at the following link: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157647710188747/

Timing and event management was provided by Precision Timing. Results are available on their website at www.precisiontiming.net/result.aspx?v=2100 with additional material available on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/davidprecisiontiming?fref=ts) See their promotional video on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-7_TUVwJ6Q

The race starts at the easterly side of the N81 Tempelogue Road and Springfield Avenue. The start area is shown here on Google StreetView (goo.gl/maps/kg7FY). The race follows Springfield Avenue along the side of Bushy Park. The race overlaps the final kilometer and the finish as it proceeds to the Rathfarnham Road (Shown here Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/gRrI6). The route heads north on Rathfarnham road as there is a very gentle incline until the junction with the Temleogue Road is reached and runners make a sharp left turn onto the N81 (shown here Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/51S2t). The race then heads south along Templeogue Road where the runners can see the course unfold straight infront of them. The race turns left at Springfield Avenue again (start area) and the final Kilometer is as the first to the finish area (Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/1R08S) just before the Rathfarnham Road Junction. Overall this course is a flat and fast course. There is a net gain of 15M over the whole course with slightly downhill gradients at the start and towards the finish. The course is completely left-handed which makes for favourable conditions. All being equal the course provides an excellent opportunity for every from elite competitors to joggers to set a fast time for themselves.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

Call it retribution for my love of independent coffeehouses, call it bad timing, call it karma, but Tim Hortons has called me three times in the last month.

Two weeks ago, like an overbearing mother, Tim called early Sunday morning. With a pounding hangover from being previously overserved, I patiently, if goggily, explained that "l---" something does not live here. When they rang twice more I picked up and squealed "youhavethewrongnumberyouhavetostopcallingmeI'msleeping" and just as indelicately dropped the phone on the parquet after silencing the ringtone).

This morning, at 6:30, my phone rang. With the knowing fear that calls at this hour only come when something is wrong, I answered the strangely familiar number.

Tim Horton's, it's just not meant to be.

It's not you, it's me.

This is a photograph from the 41st Rennicks Cup and 38th Father Delany Cup 5 Mile Road Race and 5KM Fun Run organised by Bohermeen AC and held at Bohermeen AC, Ardbracan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of September 2013 at 12:00. This is great local club support as the race forms part of the Meath Road Race League.

Electronic timing and event management was provided by Precision Timing [www.precisiontiming.net].

The wonderful atmosphere, the great racing and participation, the work by the club, Meath Athletics, and the local community are a great tribute to the resilience and long tradition of this race. Congratulations to everyone involved. Everything that is good about grassroots athletics and running in Ireland is always on show in Bohermeen.

Bohermeen AC can rightly claim to be one of the most active accredited race organisers in Ireland. In the Spring they host their Spring Half Marathon (see www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157632906920970/), in the summer they host their Patrick Bell 5KM Road Race (see here www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157634010225199/), with proceedings finishing in the early Autumn with the Rennicks Cup. Astonishingly over their 3 race series this year Bohermeen AC have had a total of almost 1,500 participants. These numbers speak for themselves with the proceeds of these races going directly back into the athletics club and grass-roots athletics in the county.

This is photograph is part of a largest set of photographs from the start and the end of the race which are organised into the following Flickr set [http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157635427779978/].

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 150 people took part in the 5 mile event. The 5KM had many families involved.

Weather: The weather was slightly mixed. There was a cool breeze seemingly on the face of runners for many parts of the left handed course. There was a very light sure during the early part of the race whilst later in the race there were some heavier showers.

Course: The race starts just west of the Bohermeen Athletics Track and Club House (about 500 meters from the finish line) and proceeds down the straight road (Newline) passing the club house. The race takes runners over the M3 motorway and the a very sharp left turn uphill at Arbraccan brings the runners heading northwards to another left turn and back up a rise over the M3 motorway again. For the remainder of the race the route is flat with no hills or drags. The section between miles 3 and 4 are sheltered by high hedgerows and passes Durhamstown Castle one of the oldest lived in houses in Ireland. The final mile brings runners into Bohermeen village with the school and church to their left. The race then takes its final left turn back onto the straight newline road where runners pass the start of the race and the final 400 meters which brings runners onto the gravel track and across the finish line.

Location Map: Start/finish area and registration etc on Google StreetView [goo.gl/maps/KW9Lt]

Refreshments: The folks at Bohermeen AC and the local community a wonderful spread of sandwiches, cakes, buns, teas and coffees in the sports hall afterwards.

I believe this is a species of burdock, and you can find it just about everywhere up here. it's a pain in the neck, and the seeds stick to everything and make quite a nuisance, but if you sneak up on it at just the right time, the flowers are quite a sight. At least I think so. No picture can really do the deep violet color justice, but I've done my best. :)

Timing chain failure on the Vauxhall Corsa is common. This week Ian & Charlie recovered another one. The badly worn chain had allowed the timing to slip. It had not damaged the valves so a replacement timing chain, sprockets, guides etc, together with a good flush and fresh oil and filter fixed. A fairly expensive job but when finished it ran better and quieter than it has for years.

According to Realtime Trains the route and timings were;

This is a photograph from the 6th annual running of the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 2nd February 2020 at 12:00. The race attracted over 1,500 finishers which demonstrates again the popularity of this race. Indeed the event shows growth year on year mirroring the growing popularity of the race. The race started on the Trim/Athboy road on the town's ring road and proceeds to take an anti-clockwise loop out towards the village of Dunderry and townland of Kilbride before returning back to the Trim Industrial Estate for the finish. The route is held on quiet country roads with some hills at 3, 6, 8 mile segments. The road is well marked and marshaled and is comfortable able to accommodate the race at its current size.

The weather for this year's race good but there was a significant breezy headwind from around the half way mark until the the finish. Many runners found this particularly difficult.

This photographs is part of a large Flickr photoset of photographs of photographs from the 1 mile mark, 2 mile mark and also from the 500 and 100 meters to go mark. The full Flickr photoset is available at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157712944593478

Waterstops were provided at the 4.5 and 7 mile marks on the course. All access roads were well stewarded. Indeed the majority of the race was run on closed roads. The event was sponsored by Nally's SuperValu, who are based in the heart of Trim, and many other local business establishments. Credit must go to the Trim AC team for their flawless organisation. If the first three years of this year are anything to go on then this race will continue to grow in popularity. Runners from clubs and groups in almost every county in Ireland were represented today. For runners around the North Leinster and Midlands area this 10 mile race serves as a perfect training progress stepping stone to the Bohermeen Half Marathon which will take place in March 2020 and is located only 15 minutes drive from Trim. Again this year, today's race also served as the Meath AAI 10 Mile Road Race Championships.

The 10 Mile Road Race is becoming somewhat an endangered species of the Irish road racing calendar. The popularity of shorter races and in some cases the half marathon sees less 10 mile races being organised. There is also the considerable road management associated with the 10 mile distance. However, today's race in Trim shows that there is still huge appeal in these races. As the Ballycotton 10 Mile slogan used to be "A classic race ... at a classic distance". The Trim 10 Mile is slowing becoming the Ballycotton of North Leinster with the club's offering of this classic distance.

Timing and overall event management was provided by the Co. Kildare based company Popup Races. The results and more details about the race will be found on their website at www.popupraces.ie

In a stroke of good fortune, a westbound CSX stack train has just cleared as an easbound manifest train is about to pass by the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania.

This is a photograph from the annual Navan Athletic Club 6KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held at Claremont Stadium, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Friday 8th May 2015 at 20:00. The race is organised as a memorial to former club members Simon Cumbers and Paddy Hyland. The weather defied its position in the calendar as a race in early May with dreary wet conditions for the race. However the conditions for running were actually reasonably good considering the weather of the previous 24 hours. The race starts about 1KM away from the Claremont Stadium with the finish on the tartan track.

We have an extensive set of photographs from tonight in the following Flickr Album: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157650154270014/

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

This is a photograph from the 6th annual Longwood Village 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs 2015 which were held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 18th October 2015 at 11:00. This is the sixth year which Longwood GAA/Village have hosted race events. This year's event was an outstanding success and builds on the fantastic success of last year's race. The overall number of participants, including walkers, was over 440 which is up on last year's final numbers. There was over 220 runners and joggers in the 10KM while there was almost 200 runners, joggers and walkers in the 5KM. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided many local runners, joggers, fun runners and walkers with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course. The race had a professional feel to it and it is sure to grow next year given the very positive feedback from many of the participants today.

This photograph is part of a larger set of photographs taken at the event. There were photographs taken at the start of the races and the finishes of both races in Longwood GAA. The full set is available at this link www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157660017638535

Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway. The weather was almost perfect for road running. A beautiful crisp autumn morning with dry cool conditions. 5KM Course: The 5KM started in Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.

10KM Course: The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Dargan's Pub and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

Actually we do want to rock the boat. This thing is called a roll exciter. It rocks a boat model side to side, but not fore and aft.

This is a photograph from the Athlone 10KM and 5KM road races were held in Clonown Village, Co. Roscommon, Ireland on Sunday 27th of April 2013 at 14:00 and 14:30. Clonown is a small townland on the west bank of the River Shannon and is situated about 3 miles south of the town of Athlone. Whilst the townland is almost completely rural it is accessed easily from major routes and towns by the M6 motorway. The weather was perfect for today's race and participants enjoyed very warm spring sunshine. There was a slight breeze on certain parts of the course but overall it was a beautiful day for running. Over 200 people took part in both events.

We have an extensive set of photographs from today in the following Flickr Album: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157644370027053/

This race completely defied the fact that it is only the third year of it's existence. Every aspect of the organisation was professional: from stewarting, registration, start of races exactly on time, car-parking, and post race refreshments. The 10KM route followed an anti-clockwise loop. The race started on the L2035 Togher Road (about 100m from Clonown Centre - see here on Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/xWj3i) and heads towards the old Ballinasloe Rd (emerging here - see on Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/P6rE8) and back via Creggan (turning off the main road at this point - see Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/wCHT0) with the finish at the Clonown Community Centre. The course turns at this point [goo.gl/maps/7sa6u] to return to the finish. The stretch from the exit off the Old Ballinasloe Road to the Creggan turn off brings the race through wide open bogland areas used in the peat extraction industry.

The 5KM run was added last year (2013) to provide a managable challenge for people who are following programmes such as Operation Transformation. The 5KM race route follows a different route around the townland. The race starts at the church in Clonown and head clockwise around the Ballinaculla townland which offers lovely views of the River Shannon. The route then goes to the Drumlosh road and runs for 1.5 km before the roundabout which is the 3km mark. The race then turns around and returns back to the village and finish at Clonown Community Centre. Both races share some of the race route for the Flatline Athlone Half held annually in September (www.athlonehalfmarathon.com/) which makes the race routes very fast and flat.

Talk about bad timing. This is the only place at Ã…rsta Havsbad where you can eat lunch when visiting the beach. There was a fire here on the 5th of June. Talk about bad timing as the kiosk and restaurant is only open during the summer. The beach was crowded today and normally this place would be filled with customers. But according to one woman that I talked to, the owner was hoping to open for business tonight!

OK, so they were doing live mortar fire demonstrations. I had to shoot through a crowd of people with a 500mm lens from about 60 yards away. Timing it was hard and I had to throw away like 25 previous shots that were too early or too late to catch the flame blast

Good timing today...I was heading to Founders for an early afternoon meeting and had the privilege of meeting Durf,. If you've been to Founders, perhaps you've seen his work before. There's a piece above the bar that's his work as well featuring Dennis Hopper's character from Easy Rider. The work pictured here has about 30 hours of Durf's time and talent burned into it.

The Bottom Brackets and Idler overhauled really nicely.

This is a photograph from the starts of both races in the 7th annual Longwood Village 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were held in Longwood Village, Longwood, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 23rd October 2016 at 11:00. The races are held annually to support the development of the local GAA club while also supporting local charities. The race has support from Trim AC which sees the race have full AAI premit status. These races have grown steadily over the years and this year almost 400 participants to part in the two races. This is an impressive statistic given that a very large number of local runners will be preparing for the Dublin City marathon 7 days from now. However both races provide marathon runners and all other runners, joggers and walkers with an ideal opportunity to race on a very fair course in a beautiful rural setting. Barry Clarke of Longwood GAA and Trim AC and his very large group of volunteers deserve the highest of praise for the very high standard of organisation immediately apparent to anyone taking part in the race. The weather didn't exactly play ball with some heavy showers of rain for both races. However this didn't do anything to dampen the atmosphere of the race.

We have an extensive set of photographs from all of the races today in the following Flickr Album: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157672030705623

Amy got back into the swing of running as she trained for Skirt Chaser 5k Denver. Guess who ran faster in the rain around the Evergreen High School track?

On the walk home from Starbucks in the snow I wanted to stop and take photos of the power lines and how amazing they and the snow covered trees looked in the sunlight. Right as I was snapping this Will decided to throw a snowball up in the air right in front of me; there's his fingers on the bottom there and there's his snowball center frame. D'oh! We had a good laugh about it after I showed him what he'd done.
