Leucojum vernum 039 18
Leucojum vernum is native to central Europe and parts of southern and western Europe, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, France, Italy, Romania, former Yugoslavia and the Ukraine. It has become naturalized in other parts of Europe, including Great Britain, the Netherlands and parts of Scandinavia, and in Georgia and Florida in the United States. It is found in damp and shady habitats, including woods, up to elevations of 1600 m.
Leucojum vernum is a perennial bulbous plant, 12–35 cm tall in flower. Its leaves, appear at the same time as the flowers and continue to elongate during flowering. The pendant flowers appear in spring and are usually solitary, rarely in an umbel of two. The flowers have six white tepals, each with a greenish or yellowish mark just below the tip (from Wikipedia).
As mentioned in the image before we took a speedboat back to Sai Kung.
Unfortunately my camera was not packed waterproof, but even without numerous water pictures the ride remains definitely remembered me.
Before we went on board I was told by friends that it would be a quiet, fast and above all beautiful ride that I would not forget. Forget I will not, not least because of the roller coaster ride! We had strong swell and after a few waves we started with amusement to laugh and fright. 30 minutes amazing (wobbly) adventure. Did I forget to mention that we afterwards soaked to the bone went home and were somewhat amused viewed in the subway? At a change of clothes, of course, no one has thought.
Great!
Annapurna Circuit - Trek Day 6
Annapurna II provides the backdrop for this final view of Upper Pisang Village as we begin the day's journey toward Manang. Upper Pisang was perhaps the most interesting stop on the Annapurna Circuit. It felt like I had gone back hundreds of years in time. The buildings were made of stones stacked upon one another, with no signs of mortar holding them together. Logs with steps cut into them provided access from one level to another. In a dark room with a fire-pit in the middle and a soot-stained ceiling, a woman who looked as though she was 100 years old turned water and flour into chapatis. Then she made a tasty vegetable curry while we sat on the floor and ate, encircling her in awe. This illuminating experience was our reward for taking the more difficult and less-traveled route between Lower Pisang and Manang. Those who take the easy route along the river miss not only the spectacular views, but a real glimpse into Nepal's past as well.

Just a random portrait of a man on the ghats of Varanasi, why time traveller? Because he still had the strength and moves of a young man while working.
Some more shots of Tulips at the beginning of Spring from Dyrham Park. I look forward to creating our own Tulip display in 2020!
I've had this beautiful Cymbidium Orchid in this same pot for several years ...And every year it bursts forth with several flower stalks ...This year it's outdone itself with 10 stems !

Finally got some Paula time again after way too long. I can't believe how good it felt and how much I'd missed it. Sorry for the dodgy photo quality but just had to do these on my phone and its not the best!
Thought I'd include the Christmas tree for a bit of extra cheer! Merry Christmas everybody 😊
My attempt to create a film noir image.
The term film noir, French for "black film" (literal) or "dark film" (closer meaning).
First time I’ve had any issue with either Nikon camera...all shots taken yesterday, including this, have a strong blue cast which when opened shows “colour temperature” away to the left at 2200 and “tint” at -3. I can change from “As Shot” to another setting to get something close to normal but highlights are still wildly overexposed meaning no detail at all in white areas. This is as good as I can get from a dozen images tried...my solution, get my D7000 and set the D610 as its older sibling is set and hope for the best.
Georgios Alexios is a general cargo ship built in the Netherlands in 2000 and on its way to Tilbury, which it is minutes away from...in real time still within Tilbury Docks and about to sail for Vlissingen, Netherlands.

The Iron Horse arrives. I like subway stations like these cause its outside which in turn gives a different perspective from the usual. But every subway station is different in their own way and there are 468 of them in all in new york city! I'll change my mind in the winter LOL.

I've had this skirt a couple of years now but have never worn it out. It's a fishtail or mermaid style skirt in that it's very tight down to the knees at which point it flares out.
It's one of those that you leave hanging in your wardrobe for a special occasion, but I don't seem to get any of those, and so I thought it time to just wear it on a regular evening out.
