This old gas station is on the corner of US 81 near Bridgeport KS. An abandoned Stuckey's is on the other corner of 81 and 35. The station was last operated by Phil Sewell of Topeka, KS. It was still running in 1970 but closed around 1973. He owned the Stuckey's about a mile down the road which is also abandoned. This station has an identical twin near I-70 in Junction City, KS.
It takes time to walk an old path
even if it now doesn’t lead anywhere.
Travel it slowly
enjoying the vast distance

Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back.

Ever feel like theres not enough hours in the day?
straight after work i come home, shower, cook dinner, eat, clean up, then its time for bed: (

As I was leaving Pefferlaw, Ontario, I came across this older car casually heading down a rural road.
I took the day off yesterday. Flickred a little, didnt answer the phone and actually read a book. ha Me time!
One of the colors of the season where I live is the wheat colored corn fields ready for harvest. The two main crops in Indiana are soy beans and corn. The beans have a shorter growing time and are usually planted last and harvested first. Most of the soy beans around here have been harvested, and soon the farmers will be starting on the corn. Most of the corn is usually out of the fields by Thanksgiving. This field is across the road from my house, and the grey guardrail is on a bridge crossing over a creek.

Last year it seemed like everyone and their mom's was trying out for Adventure Time (my favorite cartoon) and I was no exception. Obviously, I didn't make the cut but I thought I'd post my boards. If you look at this one in the slideshow view it's more fun to cycle through.

Author Julie Smith-Rogers and her son helped us celebrate Ursula K. Le Guin's birthday by reading their new story The Culinary Capers of Canon & Lily: Canon Grows a Garden during Family Story Time. We also had a fantastic dragon cake. Le Guin is the author of A Wizard of Earthsea, our 2009 Big Read book.
