This is my photography project #3. The assignment was to either illustrate a text using a set of 3 pictures, or illustrate the effect of time with the same number of shots. I chose time. Immediately the first thought that popped into my head were hands, of all kinds. Specifically kids, teen, and adult.
The assignment was that we had to show the effects of time, not by taking pictures of watches at different times, but by taking shots of other objects. In my case, here's the way I interpret my pictures:
Each generation, or each stage in a person's life, you hold something very close to your heart, and it usually changes over time. I also wanted to show the physical effect that time had on people (the aging of hands)
The top picture, represents what I hold dearest to my heart. What better way to show that I cherish friendship, love, fidelity, and my family close to my heart than a Claddagh ring. (those are my hands)
The middle picture represents childhood. Who can't resist the stubby little baby fingers? Kids love their toys. Andrew, my neighbor's son, absolutely loves his trucks. I really wish there wasn't movement in this shot, but the more I think about it, the more it kind of ties in. Children are always running around and moving, which in a sense is caught in the middle picture.
Bottom picture: These are my parents hands. I first asked my mom if I could take a picture of her hands, and have her holding something that she holds closest to her heart. Her first question was "Can I hold your dad's hand?" Originally this wasn't my intention, but it worked out fantastically. It shows that she holds closest to her heart her marriage, and even more so her family. Them holding hands shows the tie between all the other pictures.
I hope you like it, and I hope I clearly got my idea across in these photos!

A flock of ibis feeding on insects exposed by a tractor plowing/discing a field is a common sight in South Florida. I have even had a few follow me when I am cutting my grass, but I have never seen as many birds as I saw today following this tractor.

Feeding time at a local fish farm. Quite a spectacular sight when all the kois started rushing in. Didn't have an SLR with me. Taken with my trusty 10 years old sanyo compact.
Its time to bath, this child had no other option other than to bath using anythin available.He was in a group of people from DRC who were cheated by truck drivers and were brought to Kenya on promises of better lives.
A Southdowns ram sleeps beneath the moon in this detail from the John Piper window a homage to William Blake's Book of Job at St Peter's church, West Firle. Made by David Wasley the window was installed in 1985.

The 25 August 2015 is the feast of one of the oldest Celtic Saints, St. Michan of Dublin. The parish under his patronage is ministered to by the Capuchin community from the Church St. friary and is the oldest parish in Dublin, traditionally serving the inner city markets community.
Saint Michan's Park was one of the smaller parks constructed in Victorian Dublin, and was named after the Catholic church of Saint Michan (built 1811-14) immediately to its west. The park incorporates the foundations and bowed corner bastions of Newgate Prison, designed by Thomas Cooley and completed in 1781. The prison finally closed in 1863, from which time until its demolition in 1893 it was used as a fruit and vegetable market.
Dublin Corporation reclaimed the space, creating a public park on the foundations of the prison, retaining about 3ft of its original walls, enclosing the park with cast-iron railings and gates, constructing a bandstand, seating, a handball alley and an ornamental drinking fountain. Many of the original features are visible on the Ordnance Survey map of 1907, yet only the railings, gates and handball alley survive. The Celtic Revival statue of Erin (erected 1903) is the central feature of the park.
The park is of historical interest, commemorating historic nationalist figures and events at a very early date in Irish nationalist history. The survival of the handball alley is also significant as a sports and social amenity in this city centre park.
