Third surgery for broken leg. Surgery included: removal and replacement of all previous hardware, trimmed-down bone that was growing sideways, removed some of femur bone and placed it between broken leg bones.

I was skiing down a black and fell on ice... My right ski did not detach from the boot and as I rolled down the mountain, my tibia and fibula fractured since the lower part of my leg was staying in place while my upper body was rolling.

Both bones were compound (exposed outside the skin) fracture.

I was taken down the mountain by ski patrol and ambulanced to Vail Hospital.

Waiting for them to kick me out post surgery. I don't think that they will let me stay for supper (and it's blue jello day).

We asked if there was any way to avoid surgery......Surgeon laughed and said "if you were 95 and never wanted to walk again I would consider leaving it alone".

Getting the splint taken off.

But I had no idea how bad my fractured leg was - can not walk on it yet but all healing well and no pain. Physical therapy exercises to do now.

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel

Wake up in the morning with a head like ‘what ya done?’

This used to be the life but I don’t need another one.

You like cutting up and carrying on you wear them gowns.

So how come I feel so lonely when you’re up getting down?

So I'll play along when I hear that special song

I’m gonna be the one who gets it right.

You better move when you’re swayin' 'round the room

Looks like magic’s only yours tonight

But I don’t feel like dancing

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You'd think that I could muster up a little soft shoe, gentle sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' better to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why'd you 'break it down' when I'm not in the mood

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

I'd rather be home with the one in the bed till dawn, with you,

Cities come and cities go just like the old empires

When all you do is change your clothes and call that versatile.

You got so many colours it'd make a blind man so confused.

Then why can’t I keep up when you’re the only thing I'd lose?

So I’ll just pretend that I know which way to bend

I’m gonna tell the whole world that you’re mine.

Just please understand, when I see you clap your hands

If you stick around I’m sure that I'll be fine.

But I don’t feel like dancin’

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' better to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why'd you 'break it down' when I'm not in the mood

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with the one in the bed til dawn, with you oo oo

You can’t make me dance around.

But your two-step makes my chest pound.

Just lay me down as you float away into the shimmer light.

But I don’t feel like dancin’

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You'd think that I could muster up a little soft shoe, gentle sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with the one in the bed til dawn, with you.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' else to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why'd you 'break it down' when I'm not in the mood

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with the one in the bed til dawn, with you.

As you can see, Andy's tibia is broken (and possibly the fibula too... I can't really see on this X-ray... I'll need a different angle to determine that - my gut feeling says it's broken too).

He is walking around like this for AT LEAST two weeks (he entered the shelter on May 23rd) and as you can imagine, he is in EXTREME PAIN.

Please, please, please help Hope For Paws pay for his surgery by buying the book we just published for the organization. All the money will go towards paying for this surgery.

The book cost only $10, and it will help Andy live a pain free life.

The name of the book: OUR LIVES HAVE GONE TO THE DOGS, and you can buy it by clicking here:

Thank you so much,

Eldad

Sibianor (= Bianor) aurocinctus (Salticidae).

Female, length c.3.2mm. First leg femora + patella + tibia much wider than other legs. Walk distinctive, with first pair legs shaking and waving around.

Maybe the first record for Hertfordshire?

I have been a little inactive on Flickr for a couple of weeks .... some explained by a great trip to Canada, but some explained by the above photo. I managed to break both my fibia and tibia in a skiing fall and am still sitting in a hospital in North Vancouver awaiting surgery for the leg. This was taken on 17 April just after they had inserted the "external stabiliser" into my shin and thigh bones. Leg/knee a tad swollen! Surgery now sheduled for tomorrow!

M 2.7 mm 3 spines (unusual) on tibia, 4 longer spines on metatarus wa northciffe oct 17 Palp with vry short tara-like simple embolus, one simple duct inscircling tegulum which is longer than the part above it, very gently protuberant,, teeth one sort of slightly knobbled squidge, and a large pointvt ooth with 3 sharp littlies opposite Lacking the stout tibial spines, not Tara, so new genus then. Also has a very simple tapering quite long sharp retro-lateral tibial apophysis instead of usual tara biforcating or otherwise wacky one.

Various view of the bruises on my leg as I wait for surgery. And, yeah, it was pretty much as painful as it looks.

Showing the dark spines and hairs along the dorsal edge of the hind tibia.

Warning gross: My broken ankle as it progresses.

Size approx 8 to 9 mm, hind body actually very red . Specimen was too smal to be a S. albilabris

Warning gross: My broken ankle at shortly after breaking it.

Broken wrist and fractured Tibia.

The hind tibia has a number of dark spines along its dorsal margin, a feature also seen in species such as S. rubicundus, S. gibbus and S. reticulatus.
