Hadrosauridae tibia on display at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. This specimen was collected in Teton County, Montana.
Hadrosaurs (the name means "sturdy lizard") were duck-billed dinosaurs that lived about 100 to 65 million years ago in North America. They belonged to the "family" of Hadrosauridae, and are descendants of the Iguanodonts.
There are two Hadrosauridae subfamilies: the Lambeosaurinae, which have hollow cranial crests or tubes, and the Saurolophinae or Hadrosaurinae, which are bulkier and lack cranial crests or have only solid cranial crests. Hadrosaurus foulkii is the only species in the subfamly Hadrosaurinae.
Hadrosaur fossil teeth were discovered in 1855. In 1858, the only known skeleton was discovered -- making the Hadrosaur the first first dinosaur in North America to be known from more than its teeth. In 1868, this became the first-ever mounted dinosaur skeleton.
The Museum of the Rockies calls this specimen a Hadrosaur. However, that is highly unlikely, and it is more probably that the museum means it is a Hadrosauridae (an as-yet unspecified duck-billed dinosaur).
When it was time to change my dressing, I got a couple of photos snapped of the incision in my knee where the rod goes down to my ankle.

This is a hinge joint, which also allows a degree of rotation, imitating the mobility of the natural joint. Prosthetic knee joints are used to replace joints that have become stiff and painful as a result of arthritis or injury. Knee replacements can dramatically improve knee joint mobility, and can offer years of independence. The artificial components can, however, loosen with time.

I was skiing down a black and fell on ice... My right ski did not detach from the boot and as I rolled down the mountain, my tibia and fibula fractured since the lower part of my leg was staying in place while my upper body was rolling.
Both bones were compound (exposed outside the skin) fracture.
I was taken down the mountain by ski patrol and ambulanced to Vail Hospital.
Anderson Silva recently underwent surgery to repair a broken leg during a fight that he won. The kick that won him a victory also cost him a badly broken left leg (tibia and fibula bones). The UFC estimated his recovery time to be as long as six months.
The surgery that he underwent involved the insertion of an intramedullary rod in the tibia. The broken fibula was stabilized and did not required a separate surgery.

Obvious yellow legs point to hybrid with Yellow-legged Gull michahellis. Otherwise much Herring Gull like, with orange gape, restricted red gonys spot, no coral red orbital ring, deep pale tongue on P8.

"Chez Fer"
El Chef (mi hermano Fernando para más señas) nos ha facilitado las siguientes instrucciones:
INGREDIENTES
Mezcla de lechugas hoja de roble, escarola, achicoria… o una mezcla envasada ya preparada de las denominadas “Gourmet” (casi todos los supermercados tienen alguna).
Carne de vieira (sólo la parte blanca).
Huevo, aceite, zumo de limón, nata líquida y unhas hebras de azafrán
PREPARACIÓN
1. Se colocan de base unas hojas del variado de lechuga
2. Se pasan por la plancha las vieiras, con unas gotas de buen aceite de oliva virgen, un minuto o minuto y medio por cada lado y se disponen sobre el variado de lechuga.
Para preparar la mayonesa:
En dos cucharaditas pequeñas de agua caliente dejamos unas hebras de azafrán durante diez minutos.
Aprovechamos ese tiempo para preparar la mayonesa de la forma tradicional.
Añadimos una cucharada sopera de nata líquida y removemos con la propia cuchara (no con batidora).
Añadimos el agua y la hebras y seguimos removiendo hasta que adquiera un brillante tono amarillo.
Incorporamos el zumo de limón y removemos (ajustar la cantidad al gusto de cada cual, pero la cantidad no debe ser inferior a un par de cucharadas de café).
NOTA: la mayonesa debe quedar más bien líquida.
3. Regar con la mayonesa el montaje de lechugas y vieiras, principalmente sobre éstas últimas pero dejando que impregne las hojas para que actúe como aliño.

Torta al vapor de azúcar morena
1. Agregue aproximadamente 300 g de agua tibia y 100 g de azúcar morena para hacer agua azucarada.
2. 400 g de harina de gluten mediana, dos huevos, 4 g de levadura en polvo. Batir los huevos y revolver ligeramente.
3. Vierta el almíbar en la harina y revuelva bien. Si se siente demasiado espeso, continúe agregando agua hasta que se vuelva suave y fluya.
4. Fermentación hasta que aparezcan burbujas, el volumen se hace el doble.
5. Cepille el molde. Revuelva la masa ligeramente. Verter en el molde.
6.Ponga en la olla con agua fría, después de que el agua hierva, cocine al vapor durante 30-35 minutos. Retirar después de enfriar.

Brown sugar steamed cake
1. Add about 300g warm water and 100g brown sugar to make sugar water.
2. 400g medium gluten flour, two eggs, 4g yeast powder. Beat the eggs and stir slightly.
3. Pour the syrup into the flour and stir well. If it feels too thick, continue to add water until it becomes smooth and flowing.
4. Fermentation until bubbles appear, the volume becomes twice as large.
5. Brush the mold. Stir the batter slightly. Pour into the mold.
6.Put in to the pot with cold water, after the water boiling, steam for 30-35 minutes. Remove after cooling.

Forty years after the bones of suspected royalty were found in Greece, experts have confirmed they belong to Alexander the Great's father, King Philip II.

Philip is known to have suffered a leg wound that crippled him three years before his assassination in 336BC.
Now researchers have found evidence of this injury, as well as signs of lameness, in the skeletal remains found in the tomb in Vergina, Greece.
They believe the female and infant found buried with the skeleton may also be the remains of King Philip II's wife Cleopatra and their newborn child.
King Philip II had Alexander the Great with his fourth wife Olympias.
He later met and fell in love with teenager Cleopatra Eurydice, the niece of his general Attalus and reportedly had two children - a boy called Caranus and a girl called Europa.
Europa was born just days before Philip's death.

Philip was king of the Greek kingdom of Macedon from 359BC until he was assassinated in 336BC by the captain of his bodyguards, Pausanias, in the town of Aegae, now known as Vergina.
Upon Philip's death, Alexander became king at the age of 20.
In 1977 and 1978 two male skeletons were excavated in what were later dubbed Royal Tombs I and II in Vergina, central Macedonia in northern Greece.
Tomb I also contained another adult, believed to be female, and a newborn skeleton.
Since the discovery, many experts had assumed Philip was the male skeleton in Tomb II, and it is commonly referred to as the 'Tomb of Philip'.
But the skeleton bears no lesions to his legs that indicate lameness.

And separate, anthropological studies have found evidence that Tomb II contains the remains of King Arrhidaeus and his wife Eurydice.
King Arrhidaeus was Alexander's half-brother who took the throne after Alexander's death.
Using scanning and radiography, anthropologist Juan-Luis Arsuaga and his colleagues from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Democritus University of Thrace, analysed the skeletal remains of both tombs.
The male skeleton in Tomb I was found to be 'strikingly tall' at around 6ft (180 cm).
He would have been approximately 45 years old when buried and his leg bones showed a stiffened knee joint and signs of bone fusion - a hole through the knee growth indicating it suffered a piercing wound.
There was also evidence of trauma-related inflammation, and asymmetrical bone lesions that suggest wryneck - a side effect of head tilting linked to having an uneven gait.

These findings are consistent with what the researchers know about the king.
Using the same technique, the researchers concluded that the other remains belonged to an 18-year-old female, and a newborn infant of unknown gender.
Following Philip's death, Alexander the Great's mother Olympias is said to have murdered both Europa and Caranus so her son could take the throne.
Cleopatra then took her own life.
Hence, the authors reason that the remains of King Arrhidaeus and his wife Eurydice, as previously suggested, are in Tomb II and King Philip II, his wife Cleopatra, and their newborn child - likely Europa - are the occupants of Tomb I.
A third tomb found in the mound had been looted but a wall painting of the Rape of Persephone remained along with bones.

Professor Arsuaga said: 'The current view is that Philip II was buried in Tomb II. However, the male skeleton of Tomb II bears no lesions to his legs that would indicate lameness.
'The male individual in Tomb I displays a conspicuous case of knee ankylosis (stiffness) that is conclusive evidence of lameness. Right through the overgrowth of the knee there is a hole.
'There are no obvious signs that are characteristic of infection.
This evidence indicates the injury was likely caused by a severe penetrating wound to the knee, which resulted in an active inflammatory process that stopped years before death.'
He added this knee stiffness and the hole through it 'conclusively identifies Philip as the occupant of Tomb I'.
'Thus, a nearly 40-year-old mystery concerning the Royal Tombs of Vergina has finally been solved that puzzled historians, archaeologists and physical anthropologists', he continued.

Many of these species easily identified as a leaf-footed bug by its broad, leaf-shaped tibia have a variation of yellow orange on their antennae, and this is also pretty good dorsal view of the leaf-footed bug, an example of insects that exhibit parental care: when scientists removed leaf-footed bug adults from their young and placed them on a nearby plant, the adult bugs flew back to the nymphs and stayed with them

Justin and Jenny with their son Will and Justin's mother Debbie invited Joe and me over for a housewarming. We had a great time – my first time meeting Debbie! – and, we love them – and love their house! I saw this now-familiar bug on their porch, so here are somewhat fuzzy cell phone photos of it walking on my one hand and arm in the rain as I photographed it with my other hand!

Third surgery for broken leg. Surgery included: removal and replacement of all previous hardware, trimmed-down bone that was growing sideways, removed some of femur bone and placed it between broken leg bones.
