My view a rumbling thunderstorm this evening just at the end of twilight. Just an isolated cell with the moon shinning on the fringe and a few stars above beginning to pop into the darkening sky.
Thunderstorm just off the beach at sunrise at Hunting Island State Park, SC.
The lightning bolt was a combination of luck and modestly long exposure.
I actually chased this thunderstorm across Georgia and into South Carolina as part of attempting to make from Statesboro to the park in time to shoot the sunrise.
-Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as .."Most Favorited"
There were a few brief power disruptions during the storm. I had to keep turning the TV reception back on.

On 30 January 2016 a huge thunderstorm hit Sydney and surroundings with wind gust over 100 km/h. This was taken in Long Reef, Northern Beaches
We had thunderstorms move into the area on Saturday and as they moved out it made for some pretty dramatic clouds just before sunset. Cheers!

Anfangs letztem Jahr fing ich mich mit der Gewitterfotografie an zu beschäftigen und hatte im Sommer auch meine ersten Erfolge damit. An der diesjährigen Pfingsten versuchte ich das fortzusetzen. Es sah zwar zuerst nicht danach aus. Ich stand mitten im Regen.
Doch dann brauten sich neue Gewitterzellen zusammen, weit weg von meinem Standpunkt. Ich war zwar klitschnass, aber hatte dann doch noch Glück mit einem wunderbaren Blitz.
Ich verwende dafür LifeViewComposite. Das ist eine Funktion in der Kamera, die nur die Veränderung von Licht aufnimmt. Man macht ein Basisbild und danach wird nur noch das sich veränderte Licht hinzugefügt. Das grosse Problem dabei ist, wenn der Regen von vorne auf das Objektiv prasselt. Dann ist nichts mit schnell mal abwischen. Kurz bevor ich die Übung abbrach, liess der Regen nach und ich konnte meine Belichtung machen.

On Aug 15 2010 there was thunderstorm in town. I opened the door toward my backyard and fired about 40 shots. Finally I got this one.
Liked the shape and colour of this part of the storm. So focused, didn't appreciate the hail behind and to our left.
Impressive cumulonimbus clouds behind Uetliberg illuminated by the setting sun. I am reposting this picture because the original color processing was too harsh.
Thunderstorm developing inland from Darwin, Australia. One of hundreds of storms that develop over the Top End of the Northern Territory between October and April each year.
First weather activity in 10 days. The thunderstorm season is quickly coming to a close in 2 weeks for Cheyenne. I might need to go to Arizona to capture any late season monsoon.
I received only 0.04 inch of rain.

I am so happy with this shot. It was hand held looking through the cockpit window and I managed to capture the moment as they say. The sunset in the background was the icing on the cake and made for such an unusual and rare photo.
