A summer thunderstorm ripping through Essex County, Ontario. There wasn't actually much lightning in this storm and this was the only shot I got with lightning, however the rain and wind were pretty intense.
During this trip, I almost never get a clear day, they were all raining :). First, I am bit frustrated, before I finally realize that I get different task, which is how to capture life in rainy days ... :)
Layering mountains, dark clouds hang up in the sky, boiling lake ... it is indeed amazing to me ... :)

It's Monsoon season here in Utah and we have been having some wild and unusual weather. We had one of the most powerful thunderstorms in several years here in Utah County. Looking south from my patio. The white stuff on the ground i olive size hail. Orem, Utah

The classic upper-midwest thunderstorm returned in fine style tonight, complete with the ample lightning, thunder, and particularly spectacular swirling clouds that we all have missed.
A severe thunderstorm builds rapidly in the early evening hours to the east of Boulder Colorado. The storm generated hail as large as 2.8 inch / 7.1 cm in diameter and high winds, which together did as much as $2 billion damage to cars and buildings in the Denver metro area. Storms with such ferocity are becoming more common, very likely associated with climate change impacts on greater capacity of the atmosphere to hold moisture and increasing instability.
Thunderstorm started as seen from the left side of this panoramic shot. Soon it came towards my direction and I have to get off the rooftop.
Severe thunderstorms developed northeast of my location and moved west and south during the late afternoon. Amazingly, I received only a trace of rain.
This storm was 40 miles to my northeast.

The lightning bolt was a combination of luck and modestly long exposure.
I actually chased this thunderstorm across Georgia and into South Carolina as part of attempting to make from Statesboro to the park in time to shoot the sunrise.

There were a few brief power disruptions during the storm. I had to keep turning the TV reception back on.
On 30 January 2016 a huge thunderstorm hit Sydney and surroundings with wind gust over 100 km/h. This was taken in Long Reef, Northern Beaches
