To help alleviate failing sales and PAX earnings we helped implement a very different flight sales strategy with Sterling Airlines, we did this with the "love is in the air" strategies
Instead of focusing on sales during the flight and per passenger earnings we ekorwd with Sterling and Independent contractors to develop a new way of flying.
The aim was to make the flight itself relevant again and not just a means of getting from destiantion a to b, we implemented things such as an easier check-in, on-board live entertainment (John Mayer played some acustic sets inflight), pre-ordering of taxfree goods (such as laptops), travelguides waiting for you at your seat, gifts for your seatmate, and a host of interaction spurring activities suchs as: one coffe for 10, 2 for 9 (the idea being that you share this with others)
Sterling passengers were greeted with roses and entertainment while waiting for their check-in and the plane would feature surprise entertainment by hosting standup comedians, live music or other lively happenings.
To help passengers spend their waiting time we implemented a treasure hunt in the airport, where posts around the sales areas of airport would lead you to small presents and the chance to win a 1.500 EUR travel voucher.
As a important detail we, implemted a micro booking site where passengers could buy added value to their flight (such as drinks, meals, presents and travelguides / entertainment, products) and as a twist; anyone who knew the passenger was on the flight could buy surprises for the passenger to be delivered to them after takeoff - this could be all and everything from flower to letters & presents
We even had a lottery onboard with the possibility to win 1.000.000 EUR.
All off these various implemented strategies raised earning pr. pax by 180% and increased passenger satifaction enourmously, people proposed on board of the flights, were in good spirits despite an unfortunate delay and would opt to fly like that again.

This shop is on Sagano-Toriimoto that's existed for over 1,000 years. It's full of crafts all created from the silkworm cocoon thread. You can also just buy a bag of cocoons, which have one end cut off. They resemble a thimble, but are soaked in water and rubbed on the face to soften and smooth the skin.
This wasp is very common throughout the US. It avoids humans but captures and paralyzes smooth bodied caterpillers which serve as food for wasp larva. Eggs are laid in ground burrows.
Thread Waisted Wasps have very colorful abdomens but they move so fast it is a challenge to capture the insect in focus with all body parts showing.
These beaded balls were inspired by Japanese temari balls. They use 15/0 beads and were stitched to the base in a way to mimic the thread wrapping of traditional temari balls. The one on the right can be seen at Fujiyama Restaurant in Bristol, PA.
Lovely new silk fabric, embroidery ribbon and threads as well as a bit of pretty rayon varigated thread for my stash!

This is a beauty treatment that removes the facial hairs by the roots. Women who were getting married traditional had this treatment. It's still popular in Taipei, you can see it in night markets and sometimes in the park. The skills are kept within the families.
I'm not sure whether this is unique to Taiwan. I imagined it was practiced in China but whether it survived the cultural revolution, I don't know
If you know anything more about face threading, then please leave a comment - I want to find out more.
