I've walked by this container of tatting thread hundreds of times, but it never seemed like a subject for photography until the sun shone on it yesterday.

... for longevity.

3 1/2 metres of red silk thread for 3 1/2 generations. One of the essentials for the Chiu Tau ceremony (the coming of age ceremony) on the eve of the wedding for the Peranakans. The tread to wish the bridal couple a long life of 3 1/2 generations. Picture taken during a shoot to have accompanying slides for a talk by an expert on things Peranakan next Tuesday

Irish Crochet Lace Violets on Thread

With lots of help from Redwall Photo, I bought a new camera and I am in love.

I got this on eBay a couple of years ago. It's really pretty and shiny, but the balls are only 40 meters. I've got a zillion of them so am going to try to work them in somehow.

for a little joke in central.

things that bug me:

1.) people overusing the word "censor." they seem to use it like a shield. i don't buy it half the time.

2.) lack of humor. it goes both ways. admins need to have a sense of humor. group members need to have a sense of humor. if more people took themselves less seriously, we'd all be much happier.

A couple of them came down on threads that night. I didn't know slugs did that. They came down on threads of mucus into my garden. They're horrible with my strawberries and sprouts.

Sewing Room Tetris...here we have my thread caddy. On the top are my beautifully color coordinated bobbins...behind those are my crochet needles about 40 or so more than half were inherited...but my thrifted jar make them all look so cute. Then in the salt shaker are my embroidery needles. Also inherently a bunch of those too. But I do embroidery and again they look so cute. Now onto the bottom of my caddy is all my thread, and it's not color coordinated! Don't be ridiculous ... but again the loose thread was a tangled mess so... went through it and put it back in that little groove. Don't laugh. Oh, and in that little jar is my elastic. Perfectly measured and marked in 3 1/2 incriminates for all my little doll clothes...I feel better...don't judge me...I have way to much time on my hands...L

i crocheted these shawls out of quilting thread a couple of years ago and then never got around to blocking them or listing them till a customer asked about them recently, so i pulled them out to take pictures. i'd forgotten just how many i made! i'll be blocking them all this weekend and then listing them on etsy soon. if you are interested in any before that my email addy is in my profile.

It's small, and close.

T-shirts hold a unique place in Greenpeace campaigns, as they not only sum up our work in a creative and visual way, but even when looked at in isolation they tell crucial stories. They help to create iconic images, speak when those wearing them cannot, and otherwise help unify people behind a common goal.

Greenpeace Japan has collected over 180 shirts from other offices around the world. This exhibition is just a glimpse at some of the shirts that have helped shape our campaigns over 30-plus years.

Each thread roll contains the length of 50,000 meters.

My First (yes first) at doing anything other than cropping any of the photographs I have taken.

The miner's daughter in Beamish Museum colliery village concentrates on getting the thread into the needle so that she can continue stitching her pieces together. It would be a lot easier if some twit with a camera would leave her alone!

Velour embroidery thread I've had around for ages. The stuff is so fakey but I love the texture.
