When I was taking out the garbage this afternoon, I noticed a BIG bag filled with thread next to the chute! Of course I had to take it with me! It was full of thread. Well over 100 spools. Mostly Coats & Clarks, and mostly on plastic spools so it can't be too old. I usually buy Gutterman, but I'm not about to turn away free thread!
Practice the art of simplicity today by making an interesting photo from a minimalist perspective - Daily Shoot #ds64.
What potential does this thread hold in the hands of a skilled seamstress? This thread is from my Grandmother's sewing basket.
A mating pair of thread-waisted wasps (Eremnophila aureonotata) visits a Wingstem flower. The adults of this species feed on flower nectar, but the larvae live in a burrow dug out by the female and feed on a big caterpillar that she brings for them and places in the burrow.
didn't quite realise what we had gotten ourselves into, when this guy said he had some thread he didn't need anymore...
Practice run on this thread catcher pattern. Holy Moly the pattern has 20 pieces in a tiny 4 1/2 dresdan. I'm going to change that on the next one. Maybe 6 or 8 petals!! Photostream has close up of top. There is also a tab in the bag to hold small scissors.
In India a Festival called Rakhi is celebrated every year in August. This day in general sisters tie a sacred thread on their brothers' wrist and brothers vow to protect them from all troubles. In this case though, my little daughter got a thread from her granny...
This piece by Mark Garry was seen at Tulca Festival Gallery, Galway. Made from wood, beads and thread, it's simplicity intrigued me.
I'm off work today. Feeling poorly, so we need lots of sympathy flowing poor deebee's way. I didn't post last week at all - please forgive me! I've dug some old shots out for this week. This one is for Shiny Sunday (I know a day late, but remember I am poorly at the moment!). I took this last year for a brochure I was doing for an embroidery company. We didn't use it but I reckoned it was multi coloured and shiny. So this is my Shiny Sunday pic.
American Girl Scale
I found the scissors and tiny wooden spools at Hobby Lobby. I added the thread. I rolled some yarn for the yarn balls and poured real tea into her cup. The scissors so not open and are flat on the back. They came in a bag of sewing themed notions.
I found this tea set on the Queen's Treasures website. They carry really nice AG stuff that is usually less expensive than American Girl.
I came across a neat tutorial for making an AG sewing machine:

We are tied with different threads of time. we cross over and certainly go parallel as destined.
I am a fan of Sci-Fi movies and 've watched the movie (Source Code) in recent time. and seeing the photograph this though was aroused! LOL
Cox's Bazaar, 2011
I have soo many crazy creative ideas but thanks to the people I live them I can only execute them if Im alone or im my room. So I glitter my face and shoulders, tied thread around my head, did my makeup :) got to love purple mascara, and stole Geoffs lamp lol.
Iv been feeling odd. I want to do more but Im not exactly sure just how to do it. Im bored of where I am right now in my life, time for some change and excitement lol.

At an auction I found a big bag full of colour coordinated sewing threads. Of course, I had to get them because of the wonderful colour combos!
Oil Cloth thread Basket - approx. 2"T x 9 1/2" W x 2 1/2" D
Oil cloth exterior & interior purchased from CityCraft www.citycraftonline.com/
My thread is stored by type in plastic shoe boxes on a shelf inside a cabinet. This "basket" is the perfect size to sort my threads by color within each shoe box (ie this one holds all my red/pink polyester threads).
Used this tutorial - ayumills.blogspot.com/2011/10/12-gifts-of-christmas-blog-... but didn't add any batting or interfacing - the two layers of oil cloth provided enough rigidity for this purpose.
Such a cute, quick, easy & practical project.
