The white spool is a linen thread in different weights. 25/3 is most common weight for book binding. The color thread is thicker which is used for exposed (naked) spine type of bookbinding.
My mother-in-law has been saving fabric scraps and threads from all her sewing projects since the 70s. She has given them to me to learn how to sew with! What I love about these is that it has been long enough that most of the fabrics are considered "kitschy" now. This is gonna be AWESOME.

There are so many species of "thread-waisted", it is difficult to specifically identify this one. Possibly a digger wasp.

these are coloured threads for my girl....of course I have more of them. Just found out, like, suddenly found out that they were so beautiful to look at so I took this snap shot. my favourite colours are always gloomy, black, white, grey, navy. but, red, this one being exceptional. but what can you say, these colours, so bright and warm, I love these too.
A fine cord of cotton or other fibrous material is spun out to a considerable length, especially when it is composed of two or more fibers twisted together.
This is a table topper that I crocheted from a freebie Coats pattern using DMC Traditions thread. I'm quite pleased in how it turned out even if I'm not pleased with how the pattern was written.
