I felt bad for making my wife look so awful, so I thought I would break out the wide angle close up on myself. Threw in some thread for good measure.
nylon thread is expensive. I buy it in bulk (eg 1 lb. spools) but they are too large to fit my machine's spool holder. I built this holder for four spools plus a hanger for my bobbins. The top of the thread feeder has a bent paper clip sticking out of each side to guide the thread up and out to the machine.
The thread is Knit-Cro-Sheen, shaded light greens, size 10. Crocheted with a Boye size 6 hook.
The pattern is a favorite of mine from a collection of pineapple designs by Nihon Vogue; I'll add more when I locate the book!

My Grandma, who was an amazing seamstress, passed away a couple of years ago, and we had been meaning to sort through her sewing notions and thread and fabric for a while. She had an amazing range of colors represented in her thread, and we sorted it by color (and had some fun playing around with building towers from the spools). I plan to display these on a wooden thread rack, where all the colors can brighten up my room.

The Garden d'Lights festival is from November 24th through December 31. Inspired by plants found in Northwest gardens, hundreds of volunteers bundle strings of commercial grade outdoor lights into three dimensional flowers, shrubs, vines, and critters.

Picked up this lot of vintage threads and notions at an estate sale today. The threads are the prettiest but there's a whole box of notions in the silver box. Paid $3 at an estate sale.
having thread tension troubles this am. damn it! Would like to make some oversewn tees this am, but that's very delicate work, and I don't have the "groove" today. Some other time, perhaps. sigh.
Attempted some thread sketching flowers and leaves and swirls, mug rug made from scraps from the pillow I made, added extra for the pillow talk swap
This is a birthday gift I got from my friend :) The threads are rather old, perhaps somebody knows, how old they could be?
I haven't seen the tiny dmc cotton thread in such colors before, there is something similar, but only in white and ecru now.
I store my thread by fiber type and size in these plastic drawer systems. For more information about the five weights of thread find page 9 in the book Threads – The Basics and Beyond

This thread is in what I was originally calling a craft room. Then I thought it seemed more appropriate to call it a sewing room. Maybe it's a creation room?
We have a music room downstairs. These spaces are neck and neck for my favorite.
Yeah, I know. It's usually "needle and thread," but this blanket has been spending a lot of time with the needle & thread lately. It's something of a security blanket my son has had since he was little. When he gets upset lately, he pulls at it, and has ripped the tags off several times. This might not be a problem, except that he's particularly fond of the tags, and so comes to me in tears asking me to fix it.
So...blanket and thread.
