This little guy is about as cute as they get. I've been eyeing him in the pasture for a few days and finally had an opportunity to take some photos.

22nd Day of Advent - Guess how much I love you...
Sometimes when you love someone very, very much, you want to tell them how great your feelings are. But, as Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare discover, love is not an easy thing to measure.
This was a favourite baby book when J was a tiny baby, she was born only 5 wks before Christmas .. A wonderful time just before the new millennium!!
"Another year of lessons are coming to an end just as they reach their climax. To highlight this,Muziekpublique is opening up the stage of the Moliere theatre to the students from itsacademy, and will give carte blanche to the raw talents, explosions of creativity and virtuososwhich will all be playing there under the spotlight. This is a unique occasion for the students. Not only will it be the first time for them to playoutside their classroom walls, but they will also be brought face-to-face with other instruments. And for those who are dreaming of starting projects outside of the academy, thisis the time to meet other passionate people. The stars of the evening are of course the students, but also the teachers who are also helpingto put the show together. Fan clubs, friends, family or simply curious people are invited tocome and support these passionate amateurs of music and dance. Disciplines range from thekora to the accordion, flamenco to the Irish flute through Brasilian percussion and Galicianmusic. The result of this show just proves that musical diversity has no end."
We put a recess near the head for the thread to terminate in.
After gearing and belt changes on the lathe, then some careful tool setup, we cut the thread in several passes. The tool is aligned to only remove material from one face of the thread.
Always Remember - 3,000 flags were displayed in Omaha's Memorial Park this weekend in memory of the people killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Each flag included the name, age and occupation of the life lost.
This particular flag also included an angel with a child's prayer.
This Im led to believe is the only remaining flying version of this aircraft type in the world, how sad that we only saw it as a static exhibit at Thunder over Michigan 2012. Named 3 Hits and a Miss

This is like the nicest sea lion portrait I've ever taken and I only just found it now! You can really see the spots down Coral's neck. Aren't her vibrissae ridiculous?
This is two separate four strand round braids, a total of eight strands
I started from the sides and had the strands meet in the center and continued the braid for the top and the bottom
I've also done this with palm fronds (16 leaflets )
This red-throated loon seemed quite content to sit at the water's edge until the tide brought in the bait.

This series generally documents the development of Batdorf, the GBH. We visited the nest about once a week. Amazing how fast they grow! Captured from 70+ meters with digiscope.

Contrast this with the scenes in Doubtful when it's been raining (just search flickr or just click here). This gets 7 metres of rain a year, and when it rains it plummets. Down the hillsides. Wet gets a whole new meaning.
So does remote. To get here from Te Anau, the nearest significant town involves a coach of 20k, a trip across a freshwater lake of about 30km, then a drive across the Wilmot Pass (a road that connects nowhere to erewhon) of about 30km, then another saltwater boat of around 30km.....
This isn't populated! No-one could live here. It's too wet.
There is a story of an early NZ schoolmaster packing up and moving out here. Apparently left, inundated by rats.....
This five-part Georgian mansion was built in the 1760s by William Paca, one of Maryland’s four Signers of the Declaration of Independence and the state’s third Governor. Carefully restored by Historic Annapolis beginning in 1965, today it is recognized as one of the finest 18th-century homes in the country and a National Historic Landmark. The Naval Academy chapel dome is in the background.

This is a portrait of a man sunbathing and reading the newspaper on the East River boardwalk in Manhattan.
This was taken from 83rd Street in Virginia Beach, VA on September 24, 2012 around midnight. The bright star in the center is Jupiter. To the right of Jupiter is the Hyades cluster, part of the Taurus constellation (it looks like a house on its side). The Pleiades cluster is directly above the Hyades cluster (it looks kind of like the little dipper, but smaller). To the left of Jupiter is the Auriga constellation with its brightest stars Capella and Beta Aurigae. The bright star to the right of Jupiter is the red giant Aldebarah. You can also see part of the Perseus constellation at the top. Photo by Mackenzie Brunson
