This is the landscape I have been visiting for my upcoming series: "Closer to the matter".
I took this image from my room in the first night while I stayed there.
It is handheld at ISO 4000 without image stabilization, which means kind of useless closer up.
Nevertheless it shows the atmosphere so well, I didn't want to keep it for myself.
(ISO 4000, f2 @ 32mm, 2sec., 22:11)
This is about as far as we wanted to get into the back country desert with the 4 wheel drives we were renting ... no need to get stuck and then needing rescue. Amazing scenery there in Utah.

The flowering quince made it through sleet & snow flurries, high winds and below freezing temps. One of the joys of Winter. And - our Yellow-throated warbler is still here - this is Day 26!
I have used this location for two other photographs....so I do find something about it very interesting and attractive.
This summertime full bloom Lily exudes in your face....pretty as can be.
Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul....Darrell.
Have a safe and delightful day dear flickr friends.
Thank you to everyone for your visits to my photo-stream...very much appreciated.
This is my first storm chaser picture i have ever done. Last night i was happy to shoot this picture in my hometown in Germany. I had a lot of fun and I think now I will often chase a storm. I hope you enjoy it.
Shoot with Nikon D800 and Sigma 20mm Art.
This dark, long-bodied diving bird floats low in the water with its thin neck and bill raised; perches upright near water with wings half-spread to dry. The Double-crested (which rarely looks noticeably crested in the field) is the most generally distributed cormorant in North America, and the only one likely to be seen inland in most areas
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day :).
This Creeping Woodsorrel is one of the delightful little weeds that finds its footing between the bricks and cobbles of Amsterdam's streets. The flowers are only small, perhaps 5-6 or 7 mm. across, and they rise from a beautiful purple-brown nest of trifoliate leaves. Here it is on a delightfully Sunny early May morning.

Under the water
It's cold and it's grey
My torrid autumn
Another season decays
Open up the hollow
And my walls come down
I'll tell you it's a problem
Just when no one's around
But then
I know what's wrong
God you complicated everything
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will draw my line
I will draw my line
Burning my cathedrals
'Cause I don't pray anymore
Look at all these people
These tragic little people
They're smiling and they don't know what for
But then
I know what's wrong
God you complicated everything
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will blur my line
I will blow my line
Our houses are haunted
Torn and deserted
They're made of my secrets and shame
Baby I want it
But I know I'm not worth it
I can't even sell you my name
But then
I know you're wrong
God, you took it all away from me
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will cross my line
I am crossing my line
Wouldn't you like to see something strange
Come with us and you will see,
This our town of Halloween..."

BATTLESCARS WL : CLOUDS - BACKWATER 4.0
This gorgeous Japanese Maple stands out visibly against taller trees in the background. The Old Arboretum. Westonbirt Arboretum near Tetbury, South Gloucestershire, England, UK.
This is Gracie Jo, the semi-feral cat we are trying to coax indoors. Today's forecast was for a "wintry mix", lots of wind, etc. At lunch time, Gracie Jo ran pretty quickly to the back door (before I could take her food up to her heated area in the workshop), so it seemed like a good time to try whisking her inside. I got her into the laundry room without her biting or scratching me. Just about that time the wind picked up and the rain turned to sleet & I think Gracie Jo must have been okay with being inside for a little while.
This was taken just as the golden hour of sunrise was fading to blue. I loved the way the clouds flared orange around the rising sun. I think the heron in the corner was admirng it as well. This was the second picture he was in. He must like to photobomb.
Algunos dias el sol tiene buenos motivos para ofrecernos su mejor luz.
Alguns dies el sol té bons motius per oferir-nos la seva millor llum.
Is a ghost town.
Can be described as dry, windswept and desolate.
In 1880 Candelaria was the largest town in the immediate area and boasted of having 3 Doctors, 3 Lawyers, 2 Hotels, 6 Stores and 10 Saloons. The leading mine, the Northern Belle, was first located in 1864 (relocated in 1870) It is reported to have produced an estimated 7 million. Mainly in Silver. Mineral County, Nevada, U.S.A.

This is part of an M&S tableware set called Autumn Leaves.
I started collecting it when I got married over 50 years ago and have added to it over the years, often as because it was going out of fashion, but it's timeless to me.
It's stoneware and very long lasting.
Recently I was asked about the Cho La pass in Himalayas, so I used this opportunity to revisit photos I took on this day. And I think it was the best view we got this day - the valley we were sleeping in with Ama Dablam in the background.
This is from April at Nisqually NWR. It's not a composite of two pictures (otherwise, it would be waaay better), it's just a weird thing that I was lucky to see happen.
It's hard to tell in this shot, but the bald eagle is chasing the peregrine falcon. It does give you a pretty good idea how much bigger eagles are than peregrine falcons.
