Biggest find ever recorded on Flickr. This carriage from Class 414 EMU 4311 was - along with the other half - housed at an electric railway museum near Coventry until closure in 2017. It was subsequently intended for transfer to the Blaneau Ffestiniog railway in Wales. Having struggled to source the exact information, I remain unclear as to whether the intended funding for the move had fallen through, or the Covid pandemic had simply delayed things but it has since been purchased by the Thompson Locomotive group at Darley Dale near Matlock and as of early 2022 is enjoying a restoration scheme.

Now a scene which has completely changed. 2EPB (class 416) 5753 is seen departing Beddington Lane for West Croydon on its journey from Wimbledon on 19 April 1980. This is now a part of the Croydon Tramlink network.

On 5 May 1980, 4VEP (class 423) 7800 is seen at the head of an Ore to London Victoria service. I think this was taken from a now closed foot crossing by the oil terminal which, incredibly allowed one to walk over all four tracks and the oil sidings. This unit came from the third batch of VEPs, new in 1969 from BREL York.

On 19 May 1984, 4CEP 1578 is seen shortly after passing through Shortlands with the 10.25 London Victoria to Ramsgate (via Maidstone) service.

I did this for a Graffitishop in Stuttgart, I hope it will be available as an A2 poster soon. Shout outs to some of my favorite writers from the town i grew up in.

A 12VEP formation with 4VEP 7839 leading is seen at Dunton Green with the 17.25 London Charing Cross to Ramsgate on 25 April 1986. The unit suffers from typical streaking on the bodysides where cleaning acid has been insufficiently washed away after application. This happened at many, perhaps most, washing locations on the Southern.

6 January 1985 was the final day of service on the Paris suburban line from Pont Cardinet to Auteuil. This was the penultimate stretch of the once extensive third rail network which used to spread from Paris St Lazare. The Z1500 third rail electric sets entered service in 1930 and were built by Horme et Buire, formed of a motor and trailer car. Z1546 is seen here on the rear of a four-car rake at Neuilly-Porte Maillot. Six of these sets would continue in use until later in the year on the line from Puteaux to Issy Plaine, being replaced by Z5100 units converted to third rail operation until the line closed for conversion to light rail in the 1990s.

The 17.36 London Waterloo to Chessington South passes Queenstwown Road on 30 April 1984. 4EPB (class 415) 5126, new in 1954 and a long-time resident on the South Western Division, heads a pair of 2EPBs.

On 25 February 1978, SR design2EPB units 5662 and 5664 are seen at Penge West on the fast line bound for London Charing Cross. These units entered service in 1959, built on former 2NOL underframes.

Lots to see here! 485044 is departing Ryde Esplanade for Shanklin as a five-car unit, while 485031, a three-car, is working the shuttle between Esplanade and Pier. In the bus station a heritage Bristol Lodekka (565, new in 1960) is heading for Cowes, there's a red coach of Seaview Services working route 12 which I cannot identify positively (but which is probably Bedford YRT YDL935L), and Ford Transit minibus 257 working route 5 to Tesco.

Most class 501 units were withdrawn after 11 May 1985 but a shortage of class 313s meant that a few carried on beyond this date. 12 May saw set '168' in service on the Euston to Watford Junction service, caught at Harrow & Wealdstone.
