Lots to see here! 485044 is departing Ryde Esplanade for Shanklin as a five-car unit, while 485031, a three-car, is working the shuttle between Esplanade and Pier. In the bus station a heritage Bristol Lodekka (565, new in 1960) is heading for Cowes, there's a red coach of Seaview Services working route 12 which I cannot identify positively (but which is probably Bedford YRT YDL935L), and Ford Transit minibus 257 working route 5 to Tesco.

4VEC unit 042 waits at Shanklin to form its next service to Ryde on 8 September 1977. The signalbox is extant on the disused up platform. Both platform and signalbox had gone by 1983.
The Transit Museum And The Yankees. In the modern era, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway and the New York Transit Museum have operated the vintage IRT Lo-V cars to Opening Day and Post Season Games to Yankee Stadium on the 4 Line with no extra charge for passengers. Though they have not yet operated for baseball in October this year and no announcements have been made as of yet, it had become a cherished tradition for baseball fans to appreciate the cars that operated on this line when the original Yankee Stadium was built and perhaps there will be a surprise. So, let’s take a quick look back to some previous visits to the stadium in recent years as the New York Yankees square off against the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight for Game 1.

The 16.20 Gatwick Airport to London Victoria "Gatwick Express" service is seen at Horley on 21 July 1985. I have posted another photo of this set, running the "wrong way round" but showing the GLV, taken at Salfords on the same day. 73142, built by English Electric in 1966 as E6049, was named "Broadlands" in 1980 and renumbered to 73201 when the GatEx locos were put into a single numbering series. It remains in service, now with GBRf.

5VEC 485041 is seen between Ryde Tunnel and St Johns Road on 6 August 1988 at which time it had two coaches in Network SouthEast Ryde Rail livery and three an blue/grey. Car S1 is leading. This former London Underground 'standard' stock was built between 1923 and 1931 and commenced operation on the Isle of Wight in 1967.
New Haven Railroad almost new streamlined EP-4 motor leads a passenger train through the New York Central 3rd rail 125th Street Station on the elevated line that connects to Grand Central Terminal in New York City, 1938. It appears that the first coach is deadhead on the 9 car passenger train and it os followed by a heavywight combine baggage coach. Then next comes three of the new Osgood-Bradley streamlined lightweight coachs with full skirts and then some addition heavyweight cars. On the track to the right is a New York Central train with new streamlined lightweigh smoothside cars. This commuter station was not identified. You should notice that the signal bridges have bi-directional signaling for all four tracks, making these tracks very accommodating to taffic demand conditions.

73116 is seen at the head of the 16.55 London Bridge to Brighton service at Haywards Heath on 1 August 1979. A shortage of multiple units at this time led to a temporary timetable which included two loco-hauled services (16.55 and 17.55 from London Bridge). This loco was new in 1966 as E6022 and later became Gatwick Express loco 73210. As at 2022 it is preserved by the Southern Preservation Group and is kept on the Mid Norfolk Railway.
The reason why Island Line trains were not running. Lots of flooding and debris left strewn across the tracks. I wonder how deep the water was in the tunnel!?

New Haven Railroad eastbound EP-2 motor 0322 with an 11 car passenger train in New York Central third rail territory at Woodlawn Junction, Bronx, New York 11-2-1937. This is a fairly heavy load for an EP-2 motor, but they really could do the job. The train's consist is a mixture of heavyweight equipment and the new at the time Osgood-Bradley (American Flyer) lightweight passenger cars with full skirts. This photo is interesting in that numerpos photos have been taken over the years from the highway overpass bridge, but not all that many from gorund level.

It has been a few years since I last visited this spot near Shanklin, and it sure has 'treed' up a lot! Here we see 483008, 1938 ex-London Underground stock nearing journeys end on the 10th of August 2017.
Eleven 4CIG units gained London & SouthEast Sector "jaffa cake" livery before Network SouthEast livery took over. Most wore it for under twelve months. 1710 was the former 7303 and is seen at the head of the 10.50 London Victoria to Eastbourne and Hastings on the Quarry Line at the site of the former Coulsdon North station on 28 August 1986.
4BEP 7012 is seen on the rear of the 11.15 Littlehampton to London Victoria just south of East Croydon on 19 February 1981. This was new from Eastleigh Works in 1959, having been built for Phase 1 of the Kent Coast electrification.
On 6 September 1977, 3TIS 034 and 4VEC 044 are seen north of Ryde St Johns Road having just emerged from Ryde tunnel. Grey doors had started to be applied to the otherwise drab blue sides during 1976. This former London Transport Underground stock was nearly 40 years old when it arrived on the Isle of Wight for the 1967 electrification. The last units ran in 1992.
